Ok, first of all, the Asmodee guys are really fast at replying through their Asmodee Games News page on Facebook!
Secondly, sadly no, it never ended up making it. It sounds as though they hadn't managed to get the prototype produced yet, from what I can gather from their response.

Hi guys, I had been advised that a prototype for Mall of Horror 2 would be demoed at Gencon but haven't heard anything post convention. Did this make an appearance?

Asmodee game News It was not possible, the prototype didn't make it, same happen fro Eclipse. I will have them for BGG.CON in Dallas.

Yeah, sorry, I'm a bit faster to answer on my page since I try to let it open all day long.
I didn't receive it in time for the show. What I can tell you yet (I had the chance to play it) is you will feel the same ambiance. Rules and layout have been change but if you did like the old version, I really think you will be interested in the new one. As soon as I get the final rules I will post them or make it available.
