Hi folks,

I figured here would be a good place to post about our creation, CARD-tamen™ Rome, which is a new kind of educational card game. We're winding down a Kickstarter campaign (Saturday at 11:59pm!) to fund the initial printing and distribute the Limited First Edition decks. I'd love to hear your feedback.

PDF of the rules are here: http://links.practomime.com/ctrules

We're also doing a lot more with game-based learning, you can read all about our full two year game-based Latin curriculum here if you are interested: http://www.practomime.com/?page_id=122

Thanks!

-Kevin

I just wanted to add one more link that talks about how the game came about from a failed 'gamification' attempt.

There are just 10 hours left on the Kickstarter Campaign. Thanks to everyone here who has shown support or messaged me about both the card game and our other, bigger, game-based learning Latin curriculum.

Thanks for the encouragement, Ryan!

We're trying to decide what other subjects to design a CARD-tamen™ system for next -- although that's partly dependent on content-area specialists. We're mostly a group of Classicists so while we know the ins and outs of the ancient Mediterranean, we couldn't effectively map the learning objectives of, say, British Literature onto the ruleset of CARD-tamen™.

Given your expertise I can think of one market that already exists for a product of your type. Youth group materials for Bible education. An edition of your game dealing more specifically with biblical history, such as a history of the Caesars, Following the mission of Paul, the history of.. leading up to the sacking of Jerusalem, etc..

Youth groups want to teach the Bible. Every church has one.

Edit.. also, I have a Christian education background... if you decide to look for collaborators!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to post a quick note here to let anyone interested know that CARD-tamen™ Rome is officially available for sale through our website. This may be of interest to any Latin or Ancient History teachers looking to add some game-based learning elements to their classroom.

We've just launched CARD-tamen™ Greece as the companion to the Rome deck.

Who had the larger impact on the development of democracy, Pericles or Cleisthenes? It's a battle of wits and rhetorical ability across the Classical world!
