There are 7 games I want to play by June 30th, 2012

This is my 100th session report and my 3,000th game played.
San Juan is a game that my wife and I have enjoyed a lot as a two player. It's pretty easy to set up and play and provides many options throughout the game for developing and scoring points.
In this game, I started off with a Sugar mill. Usually I avoid this production building but decided to give it a go this time around because it allowed me to hold onto my Market hall which I wanted to get into play next. I was taking the Prospector a lot and eventually put my Market Hall in play. That was followed by a Market stand and eventually a Coffee roaster. These combos gave me plenty of cards through Producing and Trading.
My wife had put a Coffee roaster in play right away which was good for the Producer and Trader. She also got a Trading Post down early which allowed her to always trade at least two cards. She added Tobacco storage and eventually a Silver smelter.
Mid to late game, she added a Prefecture. She used the Prefecture a lot but never really gained the cards for which she was searching. She also put a Palace (6) in place. I built a Chapel and tucked a good number of cards in there. Chapels typically slow down development but certainly make up for it with a point per turn if you can keep it up... and I did.
I squeezed in a Guild hall (6) and another Indigo before the end while she put down a Triumphal arch (6) on her last turn. This teamed up well with her Palace and both the Arch and Palace went well with her Victory column and Hero. We could see that this was shaping up to be extremely close and the scores added up like so...
Me: 18 + 5 (chapel) + 10 (guild hall) = 33 She: 19 + 1 (chapel) + 6 (triumphal arch) + 6 (palace) = 32
It's almost always true that San Juan comes to a tense and close finish and this round held true to that with a one point difference.
