Congrats!

I have two questions.

Is maple tea really as good as I've heard it is?

Do you think Irondie dice are worth the money?

Thank you Mario!

I have not heard of Irondie dice, but will definitely check them out.

I'm sort of 'meh' on maple tea and much prefer blueberry tea from Nova Scotia. Around here, the maple thing 'du jour' is Coaticook maple sugar ice cream, made in our lovely province of Quebec.

OMG I must get some of that.

G'day X,

Sorry I am rather later, have been off sick all week.

I try to remember to ask each Geek of the Week these gaming related questions, so to start with here's the ever so slightly modified GeekSpeak Hook questions for you:
Favourite game(s) for d10-1 player (optional, many non-wargamers wouldn't have an answer for this)
Favourite game(s) for d10-2 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-3 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-4 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-5 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-6 players
Favourite game(s) for d10-7 or more players (and you may choose a Party Game here although I wouldn't meeple )

Also Word Association Football , I will list a word and you list a game or games that you associate with it. If you like you can expand and tell us if you like it/them or hate it/them and possibly why.

Space ships
Witches
Trains
Transport (may include trains)
Workers (paid or otherwise)
Trading
Building
Pink
Theme
Ships
Money
Purple
Government
Vampires
Infrastructure
Dice
Dinosaurs
Gemstones
Dragons
Beer
Wands

Is there any particular game that you have played recently, new or old, that you would like to recommend to readers of this thread? And optionally, why?

Last but not least, what are the five games that you have played most recently?

Congratulations Peter and please keep up the good work on the forums...my questions are as follows...

1.The first Canadian I ever knowingly met was in Tasmania in 1974..he was a rather nice chap who was travelling the world equipped with nothing more than the the clothes he was wearing and a small hiking pack...he came from Kitimat...have you ever been there?

2.Has the Canadian Postal Service always been run by highwaymen and bushrangers?

3.I'm thinking of making this my new avatar...

...what do you think?

Some questions!
1. Where does the tongueless man go to gaze at the stars?
2. Who ate Red Riding Hood's grandmama?
3. How many dogs does it take to screw in a light bulb?

*played it?

2) re Donald Sutherland films: seen "Johnny Got His Gun"?**
**if not - assuming you've not read the book -, don't ask ANYBODY and damned well don't read the DVD cover or online descrip : get it, stick it in the player, watch it alone, avoid human contact immediately afterward [try sleeping on the couch]***.

Congratulations, Peter! Get ready for a helluva good week.

I'm intrigued by the 2 truths poll questions. If #2 really is true, then I'm one of the most envious geeks on BGG.

What music do you like?

I'm going to bet on "no". Kitamat is as small and removed from civilization as a town in Canada could be.
You're lucky to have met anyone from there!

I found it extremely odd that whenever I have a few moments and check out GofW, I find some connection to my strange life.

Congrats on GofW

What brought you to Traverse City, MI? I've stomped around that area off and on for the last ten years as my parents retired in a nearby county, Leelanau.

Thanks MABBY! My music tastes are all over the place, although I'm firmly grounded in early garage music, proto-punk, old-school punk, and post-punk. I'm especially enamoured with anything that came out of NYC in the 60s and 70s related to that kind of music.

I really like (along with favourite album in parentheses):

The Velvet Underground (Loaded)
Iggy and the Stooges (Raw Power)
The Ramones (everything)
Patti Smith (Horses)
Suicide (first two albums)
Television (Marquee Moon)
Richard Hell and the Voidoids (Blank Generation)
Pere Ubu (The Modern Dance)
Public Image Ltd. (Metal Box/Second Edition)
The Clash (Sandinista!)
The Fall (everything by them)
XTC (English Settlement)
Kate Bush (Hounds of Love)
The Sparks (Hello Young Lovers)
Devo (Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!)
Talking Heads (Remain in Light)
Brian Eno (Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy)
Sonic Youth (Daydream Nation)
Teardrop Explodes (Kilimanjaro)
Echo and the Bunnymen (Porcupine)
Julian Cope (Jehovakill)

I could go on. I guess I should stop here. blush

That looks a lot like my CD shelf. Interesting, and surprising you picked Sandanista as your top Clash album. Most people I know would go for the first album, or London Calling. I always saw Sandanista as a great single album buried on 3 disks, but perhaps your view differs?

Congratulations Peter!! I always enjoy your comments and humor. Sullafelix, a great choice for GOTW. Great to see another wargamer and fellow montrealer in the spotlight!

I'm hesitating to call you on number two as the lie, even though I really want it to be true. I'm guessing that you might have played instead with one of the members of the homebrew swilin', high stick crosschecking Ramones-lovin canuck band The Hanson Brothers.

Some questions:

Do you speak french?
Any opinions on the wargaming/gaming scene in Montreal?
Do you think they will eventually fix the roads, bridges and tunnels of our fair city, or should I just buy a horse? or a tank?
You're a fan of Triumph of Chaos, are you looking for a PBEM opponent?
