We had a problem in our first game regarding how the shaker was used. It's clear that no repeated shaking, tapping, etc. is allowed, but how strict is the rule that the movement originates from the wrist? Has anyone else had this problem? I really like the components and theme of this game but don't like bringing out games that cause arguments at the table. This is supposed to be a light, fun game. Help!

If not from the wrist, than from where?

Is someone insisting on windmilling it with their shoulder? As long as it's a single inversion and then a return to upright, I don't know that it matters where the move originates from anatomically.

As long as it is tipped upside-down and back again without any tapping or shaking in the upside-down position I don't think it matters if it's wrist or elbow or even shoulder action as long as it's one smooth movement.

I have played the game with the designer many times over the years.
The intention is that you hold the shaker in upright position over your pan and then swiftly and firmly turn it upside down and quickly back again to its original position. No shaking. No tapping. No holding it slightly sideways so that you can control how many pieces fall out.

Simply a quick turn of your wrist without holding it upside down for more than a second.
