In the first edition of the rules there used to be something towards the effect that you cannot turn a foe from neutral and then again to a friend all in one diplomacy phase.
Sonehow I can't find that anymore in the second version of the rules. What I am I missing or is this an intended change?

You can for example change a French ally into a neutral country and then turn the same country into a Coalition member if you have two diplomatic cards that allow you to do those changes in the diplomatic alignment.

No, in 2nd edition I thought you were limited to targeting a particular country only once per Diplomacy phase.

Yeah. Actually one of the living rules says:

Quote:
French- aligned countries cannot become
coalition-aligned countries in 1 diplomacy phase ,
and vice versa.

So, one change per country per diplomacy phase.

Ok, then probably that was just not in the second version of the rules when I printed them, I must go and get the current state of the living rules. Thanks.

Hm, where do I actually find the "living rules"? Here on BGG I only see rules v2.0, which does not contain the part you quoted (if it does, could you name the section?).

Martin, here's the official answer from the game's designer:

Read posts #1480 and #1481 for the explanation.

Ok, so indeed it was an intentional change. Thanks.

Just to remember when playing on the French side:

"In addition, Österreich, Preußen or Russia can only be
turned into French allies when their respective capital areas
are occupied by French-controlled corps"
