Hisss was the first game I bought for my son that couldn't be found at Toys R Us. It's as simple as matching color to color and possibly completing a snake. The fun factor in this one was somewhat low for my son. Matching colors was simple enough and finding a place to match was as exciting as it could be. Completing a snake was the high point as you get to move any completed snakes to your side. It's pretty awesome when you get to move a 10+ piece snake to your side.

. With that said, we found ourselves not choosing this game much after a few plays. It's just not much more than matching colors.

Setup and play is easy. You have a stack of nice thick cards and on your turn you flip over a card and play it. You play the card by connecting your snake head, body, or tail to an available card on the play area. If you can't connect your card, you start a new snake. You can also use your card to connect two separate snake sections. This required some guidance from me with my 3/4 year old, but they eventually picked up on this concept.

Cards can consist of a two colored snake body which touches each side of the card, one colored Snake Head cards, one colored Snake Tail cards, and rainbow colored cards (wild cards).

In the end, the winner is the person with the most snakes and the longest snakes. It was easy to set up a win for my son. It's also easy to set up a potential snake completion for them as well. My 3/4 year old was happy when they completed a snake and I would say something like, "Wow. You completed a really big snake! Good job."

Now that I know what other options are out there, I would probably have chosen something else. It's hard to say because at the age of three matching colors is a good game mechanic. It's a quick game because once the cards have all been chosen, it's time to score and you're done. 5/10

Oddly, my 8-yo, who can play Ascension, still likes to break this out from time to time....
