I finally cracked this game open yesterday, going to be playing it soon. There is something that has been bothering me though since I purchased it a few months ago: why does a game called “Allied Assault” show German units attacking on the cover? Nothing against German units but it is contradictory. Every time I look at it I imagine the rest of the game may be equally jarring.

Also, the box is twice as large as it needs to be. I hate companies that do this, space is at a premium in most gamer's collections. Please stop publishing unnecessaryly large boxes. For inspiration, take a look at Roll Through the Ages!

On a positive note, components look good and so does the rulebook.

On the other hand, it would have looked rather strange having Allied forces on the front when it is called Panzer General

Allied Assault qualifies what this version of Panzer General is about, allied forces attacking would have been the most logical illustration.

Though I agree with philmcd about the use of German vehicles on the cover of a game called Panzer General, the second version of the game, Panzer General: Russian Assault depicts Russian forces in apparent agreement with Belisarius88.

Oh, woe is me!laugh

Well they had to differentiate the 2 games after all. The point I was making was they couldn't win either way really could they?

Yup. I am with you on this.

I fully supported your original comment but a lingering doubt caused me to check the next version and that is where they pushed me into the ambiguous zone.
