My pegs fall out too easily for my fumble-fingers.
Is violin rosin the answer?

One uses peg paste or peg chalk to resolve slipping pegs on a string instrument, not rosin. (As for RTTA, I prefer the pegs not too tight, but should you try peg paste please post how well it works.)

Thanks for the enlightenment!
Added "peg paste" to my shopping list (music store?).

I think the pegs are too long for the holes.

I drilled my holes deeper (but it didn't work too well), I think filing the pegs a bit shorter would work.

Common sidewalk chalk works for an instrument - though it is messy compared to peg paste (aka peg dope) and I'd think more messy than you'd want for your game. Rosin works in a pinch but is too sticky so not healthy to be used that way regularly on an instrument. A music store should have paste/dope (often in a lipstick-type applicator) and it's cheaper than buying rosin - another reason I suggested it.

However, based on what Simon suggested, he may be right. In which case, rub some sidewalk chalk on a few pegs as a test and see if it gives the friction you want. If the looseness is due to the hole being too shallow (ergo hole diameter as provided in the set is a little too large) then chalk nor dope likely will solve your issue. If chalk does help then the paste should be a little less messy.

I've been sanding mine down a little shorter - seems like the simplest solution.

Just lay a piece of sandpaper on a table and rub the bottom of the peg on it, testing it on several holes in multiple boards as you go along. Continue until you have the desired fit.

You lose the paint on the bottom of the peg (just bottom if you're steady), but that's minor since you don't see that when the peg is in use.

It does take a little while and some patience to do all the pegs so I just did a few at a time (sessions of maybe 15 minutes or so) and in a few days I was done.

EDIT: I submitted this image for a visual-
