Just to try type 1 infantry and add something unique, I bought the Russian Inf set from plastic soldier company.
So look at what I did and give feedback does it seem ok? Against Type 2 inf, type 1 guys die very fast as expected at range. But at close combat they do well. In a game my son and I played, the grenades prove deadly.

The detail are no where as nice as the Dust models, but they are cheaper hard plastic. One box of 57 guys for $28 at the LGS. I divided them into 9 squads with the following weapons stats:

Type 1 inf with 1 move (PPSH SMG Fast)
Pistol – Rng 1, Inf ( 1, 0.5) ,
Rifle – Rng 4, Inf ( 1, 0.5) , Arm (1)
PPSH – Rng 2, Inf (4, 2)
SMG – Rng 4, Inf (4, 2,1,0), Arm (2, 1), Air (1)
Knife and grenade Rng C, Inf(2, 1, 1)

Light Machine Gun squad. This squad has 2 LMG with loaders(who must service the gun), 1 rifleman and leader with pistol

PPSH SMG Assault Squad. This guy have fast special ability and with 5 SMG to spray enemy forces at close range. They can be deadly for type 2 inf if they rush them.

Rifles squad. This squad has 8 troops, 6 armed with rifles, and two pistol armed leader/medic. I have some spare rifles and may add the rifle to drop the pistols.

Plastic soldier company also has these heavy weapons and small artillery.

Hope you find it useful.

looking at the synergy of the game as a whole , based on armor stats and weapon stats , the armor 1 squads should have more than 5 members for normal squads . i wouldnt go less than 7 unless its a specialist squad like a mechanics squad or something like that .

i am planning on 7 men per squad to try it out once i get the cash to buy bases from DG , but may go as high as 9 depending .

great idea , could we get a shot of them next to some DT infantry for size comparisson ?

I've seen these before and the models are not very good, the detail is rather mushy. I'd stick to 5 man units though, I've been using A1 infantry since the game came out and 5 man units work just fine, also if you have anymore the board square might become rather packed and doesn't look right.

Here is the size comparison. The detail is not as good, but these are bigger 28mm and close enough.

so with a DT base , they would be pretty close . as for the lesser detail , i am fine with that .

sadly they dont make 28mm germans YET i got an email saying they are working onthem and to expect them next year , which at the rate FFG is pushing DT back to shove DW out , i have no doubt we will see the 28MM plastic soldiers before the russians , vrill , or OFFICIAL aircraft rules come out

but i would still put them at 7 man teams min.

AWSOME .

though it would be funny if only half the russians came with rifles , and the other half were posed standing there with the bullets

I was thinking about getting some of Tamiya
'S 1/48 scale Americans and Germans for something similar to this, although since they're meant for dioramas, the poses are pretty varied.

i bought 3 different boxes to get a variety .

i had thought of using them as armor 1 infantry , but getting large numbers means putting them together . also , they tend to mix the contents , rather than a box of JUST one type of crew , so you end up with some tank crew and commanders , plus the infantry . so you would need to get extra boxes if you want larger squads or lots of squads

alot of the weapons are just to flimsy . i plan to use them for vehicle crews and such .

if you want to rush it , you could just use heroclix "easy company " figures . tghey have a medic , a infantry man , and a sgt rock fig that would work great . sadly , i have a bunch i got for another game , but since i dont play allies , i cant really use them as is . i do plan to mod the medics to use for my germans .

I also have thought of using plastic army men and Dust tactics boards and rules. The rules are simple but maybe to simple. I found a set of rules called ToyMallet 40cents that are OK and are perfect for any miniture war game, simpler than WarHammer 40K. I also have Combat Storm rules for 1/32 plastic army men. Problem is finding good figures for it though. I have decided to use lego figures, custom decals and Brick Arms weapons.
Legos would work very well with Dust Tactic rules also.

I bought tamiya 1:48 american inf box for about 8$ and i'm very happy with that. Parts do good as body fragments and tank comander fits well into pounder turret. As for rules i have a question, the box had a Vickers HMG with a shooter and a loader. I wanted it to have a better stats than usuall 50cal but make it a reload weapon with spotter till loader lives. Whattie you guys think?
