Up until the release of Ultimate Werewolf Artifacts, I'll be posting a new "card of the week" each week from the deck.

The Cauldron of Sorcery allows the player who has it to ask any other player if that player is a regular villager or not. The targeted player does not have to reveal their role (though if they are a "regular" villager, they are in effect doing so). Of course, as with all Artifact cards, this is done in public, so everyone sees the results of the card.

Of course, the big danger in doing this if you're a villager early in the game is that you might accidentally out the Seer to the werewolves. Depending on the number of remaining werewolves, the odds might be in your favor, of course...but what tends to happen immediately following the use of this card when the target is NOT a villager is that everyone wants to know their role. When all the roles in the game are known and there's role reveal, lying is a bad bad idea, and often the target will take the fifth, saying that they can't say. If it's the seer, they'll die that night. If it's a werewolf, they won't die. If it's any other role, they might want to blurt it out, but if it's a good special role the werewolves might target them anyway just to remove the new "safe" player from the game.

As a werewolf, this card is definitely your friend. You can throw a fellow werewolf under the bus and almost guarantee your innocence to the village or simply just pick a non-werewolf at random to go Seer-hunting. And if the target is a non-regular villager, *not* killing him at night will likely be enough reason for the village to kill him the next day.

The Cauldron of Sorcery is a card that tends to help the Werewolves more than the villagers unless the Seer is already outed, and adds a good deal of information to any Ultimate Werewolf: Ultimate Edition game.
