I guess the subject says it. I've played this about a half dozen times now - mostly 2 player and it just seems like there's very little danger. My comparisons are drawn from Sands, a few of the smaller adventure packs and of course the base quest. I really like the feel of this expansion and some of the mechanics are really cool but it seems like FFG decided that they wanted to make a shorter game out of Runebound - my son and I can knock this out in about an hour with no problem (of course we've played a lot of Runebound, but still it seems a little like autopilot). Mists just seems very easy and forgiving.
I don't imagine that we're 'just that good' so what do other players who like a challenge do with this one?

Yep, mists is easy. You can tell they wanted to make the game 'quicker'.
Have you tried the optional rule with the multigods at the back?

That's a good idea we're going to give it a try. I don't think most of the gods are very hard to kill, but most of them are at least really interesting. I had actually not read the multi-god rules. I got to the section with a heading for 5-6 players and just stopped right there - really do they think anyone plays this game with 5-6 players?

As a short follow-up, I got to play Mists again the other night. Just one player this time and I used the normal 1-2 player double omen rules along with the new (for me) 'epic kill 3 primal gods' rules. My character, randomly chosen, was Tara. With no pre-combat abilities and a primary skill of magic I think she's a little weak, perfect to see what kind of a challenge I have.
As usual, things started pretty quickly and within a half hour I'd woken the first god (the guy that blights cities). He's pretty tough with the double omen rule and I made a bad move going after him right away. In the end I got knocked out a couple of times and even thought for a little bit that I may not win, however I eventually killed all 3 gods easily.
Good and Bad: The epic is better than the basic mainly in that the game's not over in almost as long as it takes to set up. I actually got to fight some red monsters which was a lot of fun - I believe that a number of these are a better challenge than the primal gods.
The bad was that toward the end, I spent a number of turns just trying to wake up gods. There are so many ways in this expansion for characters to level up that it just doesn't take long to build a character that is close to invincible - especially with a good ally. I think playing the 6 xp points per level might be a the final fix for me.
Hopefully someone finds this interesting/useful. There is something about Mists that I find really cool but without epic and something else, I think it's somewhat flawed.
