In ACOK, there are some House Cards with the 'Ignore / Cancel' text ability, such as Blackfish Brynden the famous tactitian, Willas Tyrell the promising heir of Highgarden, and Gorold Who-Is-This-Lad Goodbrother...

From the extended FAQ we learned already that: an ability that “ignores” or “cancels”takes effect right after revealing the cards and remains in effect for the entire battle. Quite clear.

However, with some magical power added-in, I'm starting to feel unsure about them.

Here's the case I came across. Baratheon was ahead of Stark in Fiefdom. Eddard (5, double-fort), Blackfish (4, ignore text) and Willas (0, ignore and then copy text) were in the discard pile.

Baratheon attacked Stark. Both cards are revealed. Patchface vs Old Nan.

Patchface could transform into either Ed or Blackfish, and Old Nan could certainly copycat the copycat ability of Willas. In either case, how shall we proceed?

1) Patchface >> Eddard vs Old Nan >> Willas
2) Patchface >> Blackfish vs Old Nan >> Willas

Can anyone give any idea about that? Thank you.

Either.

Which one was best for both players?

Well, the second edition rules (which I think we can consider to include the latest errata for the original) say on page 19:

Quote:
1. Any "Ignore" or "Cancel" text abilities are first resolved in the player order of the Iron Throne track.

And then go on to say that other abilities resolve in Iron Throne track order where a conflict occurs. (And this is in keeping with the basic rule that the Iron Throne breaks ties).

So, if Stark is ahead on the Throne track, Old Nan copies Willas, steals Patchface's ability and takes any discarded Baratheon's ability; Patchface gets nothing.

If Baratheon is ahead, 1). Patchface copies Blackfish which mean's Old Nan gets nothing. 2). Patchface copies Eddard, then Old Nan uses her ability; since Patchface doesn't have a text ability anymore (currently being a perfect copy of Eddard) Old Nan gets nothing.

Ok

So, when I have situation:
Baratheon "Patchface" attack Stark "Blackfish" (Stark have Iron tron)

1. "Blackfish" cancels "Patchface" because Stark is first on 'Iron tron', (or 'cancels' is first)
or
2. "Patchface" is first because he has "Immediately.." on card?

Easy one, any cancel or ignore always goes first, so Blackfish trumps no matter what. Iron Throne order NEVER matters here, but Fiefdoms may, if both cards played are of the same category.

There are 3 categories of cards.

- Any ignore/cancel ability always goes first.
- Then any other text abilities are resolved (also the "immediately..." apply to here).
- Last, any "if you win / lose this battle..." text functions apply.

If both cards played are of the same category then (and only then) you resolve in Fiefdoms order. You can read that in the FAQ.
