1.
I am in two minds as on how to read the German off-board artillery in FF1. I don't have the scenario book in front of me, but do the Germans have 2 artillery strikes in 2 rounds or do they have 1 artillery strike in 2 rounds. I think the wording of the scenario can be read either way.
2. I am not in two minds about the following, but my playing partner asked me to ask the forum so I duly oblige. An open topped vehicle hit by Art, mortar and CC inf defends with red DF instead of blue. My opponent thinks that they therefore should pull a foot hit chit instead of a vehicle hit chit?
3. Regarding ART hitting open-topped vehicles. I have seen the question asked whether it only applies to off-board ART. The opinion was that it did. I find that hard to accept. Can anyone back this up with some kind of official rule or ruling?
thanks in advance.

1. germans plan one strike on round 2 (resolve in round 3) and one strike in round 3 (resolve in round 4). The wording is razorsharp clear

2.the hit marker is determined with unit type, not the color of its defense. In that case, the unit type is wheeled vehicle (green movement cost) = vehicle chit
3. in PoH, artillery = offboard artillery. The guns depicted on the counters are GUNS, straight-firing guns, just like AT guns

Lucasz, Torsten may be referring to mortars with indirect fire, rather than OBA proper. That being said, I don't have the definitive answer to your question Torsten...

Mortar fire (direct & indirect) uses red flank defense values of open-tooped targets. This comes straight from the rulebook

The procedure for both OBA and motars (either direct or indirect fire)is the same against open-topped vehicles. The attack is against the flank defence value.
Remember also that if the vehicle is transporting a unit, such as as sdkfz 251/1 with an infantry squad, then both units will be attacked seperately. This could result in a hit against either / both units. Use the appropriate hit chit for vehicles / soft targets.
