I see this term mentioned on a few cards and I can't seem to find it in the rules.

Does this type of attack take place before any regular attack and get resolved without a defense roll? Then does the person who did the free attack get a regular attack using combat?

I actually had an example where I broke a seal(item) to make my spirit act as a free attack and I had an item that gave me +2 spirit so my free attack with my character was 6 dice, I played it as a standalone attack, did the damage, then rolled the attack and defense combat dice for the regular attack afterwards.

Was this correct?

Thanks in advance.

I would say you did it right. I do think that the opponent gets to defend itself even against the extra free attack.

Well, if the opponent has a defensive ability (like preventing damage) he should still get to use it. But otherwise I agree -- the opponent does not get to attack.

Yeah, I agree that defensive abilities could be used, but the defender doesn't make an attack roll back... that's why it's a Free Attack. Also I think those cards say you can do it anytime during a Fight so it could be used between any of the regular Fight Rounds.
