This game's been out for about a year now, so I must've missed something from the rule book, but here goes..

I'm aware of the mission points to experience points conversion, that's easy:
2 + round_down(missionPoints / 10)

But what about Mission Points? The rulebook tells us this:
Rulebook, page 27 wrote:
You get experience points based on your score for the mission. (Scoring missions is explained in the handbook from the basic set.)

And here's the basic set's handbook:
Core Rulebook, page 6 wrote:
Difficulty level of common threats: 1 for white-symboled, 2 for yellow-symboled, 1+2 for both mixed together.
Difficulty level of serious threats: 1 for white-symboled, 2 for yellow-symboled, 1+2 for both mixed together.

This clearly contradicts with the information on "Threat difficulty"
Rulebook, page 31 wrote:
Order of difficulty: {nastiest} RED > YELLOW+RED > (YELLOW == WHITE+YELLOW+RED) > WHITE+YELLOW > WHITE {easiest}

Shouldn't YELLOW yield more points than WHITE+YELLOW?
And what about RED threats?

Any help is appreciated

I believe that you got it all wrong. The "1", "1+2" and "2" numbers are NOT included in the calculations for the mission score. They are just the symbolization of the missions difficulty. You can replace them with "A", A+B" and "B" just as easily.

You calculate the mission score as normal. The mission difficulty is already included when you create the threat decks. The points that you have to gain when calculating your score are printed on the threat cards.

I advise you to re-read the basic game's manual in order to understand how the scoring works because it seems that you are using the mission difficulty symbols as multipliers which is totally wrong.

Hope that helps a bit.

Well, color me red 'cause I'm embarraced blush
I re-read the mission score section of the core rulebook, and I indeed have calculated this wrong the whole time! No wonder there has been no threads about this!

The increasing points for surviving/destroying threats should've been my first clue.

We've used them as kind of a bonus points, not multipliers. Not that it matters at all, now that you've kindly explained where I went wrong with this.

Hey, thank you a lot! Now to break the news for my group, and subtract an XP point or two (luckily we're still between levels 1 and 3).

Your levels are low, so I believe that you can just continue playing. You didn't do it on purpose after all. It was just a mistake.

Have fun! It's a great game. meeple
