Ok I have a question about breaking out.

The breaking out segment takes place before the supply phase where you determine which units are OOS.

So does it mean that units have to roll for attrition at least once before they get an oportunity to break out the following turn?

Or maybe they don't need an OOS marker, just to be out of trace supply during the breaking out segment?

Not according to John Kisner (who knows such things: )

Quote:
Rule 12.8e says: "..currently out of trace supply.."
Does that meean that
a) you check trace supply the instant you want to break out or
b) units which were found to be out of supply in the supply phase of the preceding turn.
I hope a) is correct, because this is how we played it...
Makes a big difference....

You make that trace-check at the start of the Movement Phase, before any units have moved. Units can then Breakout if out of trace.

Incidently, don't forget the popular almost-official breakout house rule:

Quote:
12.8e Breakout Mod
On the first turn a unit finds itself in a situation allowing Breakout, the
restrictions in “a” and “b” are waved and the success chance is boosted to 4-6. Furthermore, wagons and trucks are now allowed to Breakout on the
first turn (roll for each point separately) they are out of trace.
Dean’s Grade: A (may very well be made standard
