Escape from the Kiev Pocket
Lubny, Ukraine, 18th Septembre 1941.
Having been given too late the order to retreat by Stalin, the armies defending Kiev now found themselves victims of a classic german pincer attack led from the North by Guderian and South by Kliest. The soviets only hope was to break through the german panzer gruppes' lines to the East. 38th and 26th soviet armies gathered what tanks they had left (some sources say as few as 35 machines) and formed breakthrought groups to reach the city of Lubny on the Udai river only to find that Kliest's 16th panzer division was already there...
Maps: Map 15- Map 14 (upside down) from the EF map pack consider all brush hexes as forest hexes
16th panzer division: set up on the city hex or north of the river line on map 15.

Victory conditions:
The soviet player wins if at any time he manages to cross the river line (anywhere) AND also hold the town hex of Lubny (uncontested). he has achieved a breakthrought to friendly lines... The german player wins if the soviet fails before turn 8.
