My family always plays board games during the holidays, and in a family with 6 people, Cranium is always a favorite. But it seems every year there is an argument to be had, and its always about the same thing. The Humdinger.
So lets say someone draws a Humdinger All-Play. You choose who is going to hum and who is going to guess. The card gets passed around and your teammate has no idea what the song is. Is it ok to listen to the other teams humming, guess, and get the answer correct if your teammate doesnt even know the song? Some people maintain its not fair to get the answer correct if the teammate who is supposed to be humming doesnt even know it. While others say the sounds are out there and its anybodys guess. Please Help!

While boardgamegeek is a terrific resource, I find it hard to imagine you'll get the answer you're looking for here. I'd say your options are to email the company or just get your family to agree on a house rule. If they can't agree, maybe house rule that humdinger can't be an all-play.

The way I have always played is that "stealing" is an inevitable part of any of the Club Cranium actions. It works best on the acted out clues; the key to winning those is to be the best at watching all of the actors and quickly synthesizing the clues they're giving. For the Humdingers, which are my least favorite part of the game since I'm no good at them, we use the same rule. It often ends up that only one of the people needing to hum knows the song, but that's the way it goes. CC cards are meant to be equal shots - that's why the team drawing them gets another draw afterward.
Besides, it's a party game! Sure, you could have each team go to a separate room, but that clearly defeats the purpose. If you want a game where every player/team can win purely on their own abilities, then let's face it, Cranium is not the best choice.

Hello, I would like to give you my two cents. I, too, love Cranium. I also LOVE all play rounds, regardless of the game being played, like Pictionary.
Oftentimes, the all play round will lead to a poor drawer on one team; yet, that team is able to guess what the person is drawing based on what the other team's players are yelling out. I think it adds to the fun and craziness.
If there are arguments in your household, then it is the other team's fault for humming loud enough for the other team to hear!
Happy Playing!
