I see that this book is either out of stock or unavailable at 99% of online stores (even FFG states it is unavailable).

Has anyone heard if this book will be reprinted? I cannot imagine it won't be reprinted- after all, FFG is trying to breathe new life into the game, and without these rules available it will certainly slow down the growth of the game dramatically.

So, my fellow BGGers, what is the official word? Temporary shortage, and just waiting for a second reprinting?

Or has FFG decided that you have to buy an entire new game to get the revised rules?

Thanks in advance!

I have no official information, but I strongly suspect they will reprint it before long. The PDF can be purchased here though:

It's only $5. In a way I think having the first edition of the game and adding the revised rulebook is the best way to go, since the old edition came with a good plastic insert and more dice.

You're in luck. Seems to be available on Amazon.

Looking at their planned releases it shows they are planning a reprint.
Not sure how long it will take, seeing it is at the bottom of the list right now. But printing a book should go faster than a whole game, I guess.

Maybe they will be fixing the errors in the next printing?

I have a great copy of the first edition, which makes me happy. But I need the updated rules. PDF files are "OK", but I would much rather have slick, glossy full color pages.

I guess I will wait for the reprint, especially if they plan to "fix things."

"Maybe they will be fixing the errors in the next printing?"
So, what are the errors mentioned? Anything major?

I have a feeling the repring it taking so long because they are updating it with all the new expansions. One book rather than 15.

I will say the printed rule book is nice, and is printed well, but I bought two of them and they both fell apart in about 9 games. I ended up puting them in binders, in plastic sheet protectors. Not horrible but annoying.

As for the second printing, I can't say that it will contain any more than the previous edition. I imagine it will only be corrected. There are a couple major errors, like the rules for the Simijan Module are completly missing. The rest are minor mistakes. Some are listed in FAQ, but it needs a major update.

Well, check it out, I've made an interesting discovery.

My rulebook, which has a copyright date of 2011 and came with a new copy of the base game which I purchased last month, already incorporates corrections for the errata in the official FAQ. I got curious about it when Miah mentioned that the rules for the Smiljan Module were supposedly missing. They are most certainly not missing in my book. Since they've evidently reprinted the rulebook at least once already and fixed these errors, it's a safe bet that the new printing will be fully corrected as well.

I don't know if the PDF download is corrected or not. I'm guessing that those copies on Amazon are probably the older printing with the errors.

Steve, if I were you I'd just pony up the $5 for the download, or buy the rulebook from Amazon. Why wait months for the new printing when you could be playing Tannhauser now? You may or may not wind up with a rulebook that has a few errors, but it's extremely minor stuff, mostly just referencing the wrong page numbers. Here, I've copied the errata from the FAQ so you can see what we're talking about.

page 7: The rules for Hound Dog are on page 33 not 32. The
rules for the Sten Mark II, Eye of Horus, Iikaah and Wolftrap
Bonus Tokens are on page 84 not 83. The rules for the NOS
Bonus Token are on page 70 not 83.
page 21: In “Attack Overview” the “attack” action reference is on
page 18, as page 21 contains the detailed rules for Combat.
page 61: The Smiljan Module page reference should be page 57.
page 71: The “Corporal 5th grade token” image used is
missing the T under the chevrons. The image is in fact the
one from Tala Aponi Pack.
page 87: Shock Roll should be labeled as a test, not a duel.

These are mistakes I'd be willing to live with.

Also, for what it's worth, the binding on my rulebook is holding up just fine. Granted it's still pretty new.

Hope this helps.

That's good to know that the newer printings are corrected, perhapse tha FAQ is taking so long because their just integrating it in to the new book.

For those curious here is the FFG thread on the missing S. Module Rules.
http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?e...

PS to my knoledge the PDF version never contained some of the errors, that were in the print version.

Very much! Many thanks for your detailed info. I will go ahead and pick up a new rule book now, and one later when it is reprinted.

Thanks again for everyones input!
