This question may not be specific to this expansion, but I don't recall its coming up before now. Anyway, for linked melee shots:

1. Does the second shot happen from the current location, or do you reset it to the original location like linked missile shots? (I think you shoot from where it ended, just like a chain melee shot.)

2. Is it OK to damage the same monster/hero twice in a row? (I think it's allowed, unlike the chain melee shot.)

1. Linked shots, as noted by the chain, use current location for each subsequent shot, so you do not reset. If you have multiple shots, like the Wizard's Magic Missile, where the arrow is noted, then you reset for each shot.

2. You can hit the same monster twice in a row, but you cannot damage the same monster two shots in a row.

But, linked shots are not noted by the chain; chain shots are noted by the chain, which is the entire reason for my post. Or are you saying that linked melee shots are just misprints and should be interpreted as chain melee shots?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about chain shots when you were asking about linked.

So, maybe it is a misprint?

Just to be clear, there is no such thing as a "linked" shot in Catacombs or the expansions. "Chain shots" (where the icons are physically joined together by the chain symbol) work as described by Chris above. The other shots (where there is, for example, a melee shot icon followed by a stylized arrow followed by another melee shot icon) are called "shot sequences" (see page 10 of the base Catacombs manual). In the example above, this would indicate that you can do a melee shot followed by another melee shot in the same action.

So, to answer your questions, you do not reset your position after the first melee shot. You have rushed into battle and attacked a foe, and now you can shoot an arrow or attack another enemy from the current position (as your action dictates). And, because this is not a chain shot, you may certainly damage the same enemy twice.

Thank you very, very much. I guess we played it right after all, but it's good to have it clarified.
