I am confused by the rules!
In the section ONE-LAP RACES, sub section 2 - LEAVING A CORNER..Tyre Points: "In a one-lap race the car is eliminated if it loses more than four tyre points."
Later in that same section, under the heading SPINOUT: "When a driver crosses off his last tyre point his car spins out!"
In direct contradiction to the first statement. And all of this section applies to ONE-LAP RACES, because there is another section on TWO-LAP RACES.
My preference is to ignore the first statement completely and apply the spinout rules in their entirety, but what have I missed?

Using the last tyre point (four total) causes a spinout. Lose more than four and you are eliminated.

There is nothing contradicting between "eliminated if losing more than four" and "spinning out when losing the 4th". Spin out is not the same as eliminated, as you probably already know.

The full paragraph about spinout says:
When a driver crosses off his last tyre point his car spins out ! The car stays where it is but it is turned round to face the opposite direction. On his next turn the driver turns it back to the right direction but is only able to move off in 1st gear. From now on if he overshoots a corner by one space then he spins out again. If he overshoots by more than one space he is eliminated
It's amazing what the brain does! You are both right with your observation - it is more than 4.
However the bold sentence above suggests that you can lose one more (and just one more) tyre point per corner, which will cause a spin, suggesting to me that you can lose more than 4 tyre points and still be in the race? Or should I disassociate tyre points and spinout, because this is a special case?

It might help not to think of the spinout space as a tyre point. Or as one that will come back right away if you don't go over the end.

Yea, you can "lose" the last point over and over again, and spin out every time. You just can't lose any more than that.

This si how I rationalized this.
Losing your last tire point and spinning, means your speed was "just a tad" over the speed which you can make the corner in, and as such you backwheels lose grip and you spin, but stays on the track. After turning the car, you can continue, but your wheels are not good after spinning and therefore you have to be careful for the next corners.
Losing more than that, means your speed was such that it caused you to lose your grip on all four wheels and as such you just go straight on into the trap/wall/woods and get stuck/crash ther and is out of the race.
