I just went to read the rules for my copy of Men of Iron yesterday in preparation for the possibility of playing it today and noticed that it was missing the rulebook. My copy had two copies of the Battle Book but no rules. I have sent GMT an email requesting the rulebook but I am not sure if they will be able to get it to me.

I have heard good things about the revised rules used in Infidel, the second game of the series. I also have that game on order (in the Fall sale). Do those rules supercede the Men of Iron rules in such a way that I could play both volumes in the series with that one rule book? It would be better for me in two respects if they did since I would not have to worry about the missing rulebook and I could just read the second (apparently clearer) set and be ready for both games. Are there aspects of this ruleset that remain important after the release of the Infidel ruleset?

Thanks in advance for any light someone experienced with the series can shed on this.

I have Men of Iron and just ordered Infidel. If you go to the GMT living rules site

http://www.gmtgames.com/t-GMTLivingRules.aspx

You can download the living rules. Then if you go to the actual Men of Iron page

http://www.gmtgames.com/p-64-men-of-iron.aspx

there is a supplement that has the appropriate substitutions to "upgrade" to the Infidel rules. It's a bit of a hassle flipping back and forth between the rules and the addendum, but it's all there.

Thanks. So basically does it seem best to avoid the original rulebook with upgrades and just use Infidel's ruleset or are there relevant details from the original game not covered in the new rules at all?

I don't know if you could completely substitute the new rulebook for the old one. I'm just learning the game and am using the living rules plus the addendum.

There are some minor differences between the Men of Iron ruleset plus the addenda and the Infidel ruleset.

Much like GBoH the rules can be slightly different between games. It looks like this will continue with the third installment coving the Wars of the Roses.
