I've looked through most of the threads on this board and i'm surprised to find there are no questions about stacking card effects and on what parts of the attack action certain cards can be used on.

One major issue I'll have to resolve is the card that allows a tactics dice roll 'when attacking' but before powers are decided.

It seems to be accepted that a successful roll will reduce the number of dice the defender gets to use, and if there's no ships left, this can result in a very bad day for the defender.

But what about the cards that allow you to add to tactics dice rolls during attacks or turn a blank into a result? since the previous cards states 'when attacking' the tactics pre-roll is during the attack but a sucess in many situations will be a devestating blow for the defender and makes the cards very unbalancing if you haven't managed to get any good ones.

Particuarly as many of the really powerful bonusses to combat or precombat calculations are permanent, it seems as if the one use cards are actually weaker, even if you get one each turn.

I'd love to say that the tactics roll to destroy ships in defence is before the attack, but the card states very differently and it makes setting the rules very difficult with the insidiously clever players that love to exploit situations such as this.
