7th UPDATE: 140k target met. Announcement of 11th gift due shortly.
6th UPDATE: 115k target met. My brain just exploded from the addition of another 18 limited edition dice.
5th UPDATE: 105k stretch reward - 2 more bonus cards
I thought this would be the last reward, but a 115k reward will be announced soon (target already met)!
4th UPDATE: 100k gift, a set of 6 limited edition speckled RWB dice.
This is the 8th gift. Yep, you saw that right, 8 11 free gifts for all kickstarter tiers.
3rd UPDATE: $85k gift, a nifty limited edition tin game box.
The gifts just keep coming. If you're considering getting the game on release, you may want to take a close look at what you can get now...
2nd UPDATE: $70k gift and the #76k gift - a very cool messenger bag.
The value's now gone through the roof.
UPDATE: $60k gift, making the kickstarter's value even better.
-----
Just wanted to point out that with the latest very neat $50k gift, there's every good reason to put down the cash now, if this is a game you're pretty sure to get on release.
For some kickstarters, you're taking a risk by buying blind. That isn't the case here.
The D-Day Dice: Free Trial Version has 14 pages of very positive discussion, and a review by Eric Herman. You can try the PnP free on Vassal (download the client, then navigate to the 'D' page under 'modules'). The published game has some multiplayer rules not in the PnP, developed under Valley Games. You can view the new rulebook here. I've also reviewed the game under the new rules.

Cost/value analysis, applies to US/Canada only
1. "Enlisted" (Basic Tier) Kickstarter
Breakdown of MSRP/estimated cost Base set $40 Dice pouches $10 Distinguished Service Pack $5 Badges $5 K-Pack $3 MGF dice $5 Double map $5 Messenger bag $25 Limited ed. tin game box $10 4x Limited ed. dice sets $20 + 11th stretch reward, to be announced (Plus your name in the rulebook)
Estimated value of gifts: $73 Total estimated MSRP value: $65 $70 $97 107 $113 $114 $128 Pay: $35 shipped
2. Buy at 30% Deep Discount on Release e.g. Coolstuffinc
Discounted cost Base set $28 Dice pouches $10 Reworded equiv. Distinguished Service Pack $5 Badges $5 K-Pack $3 MGF dice $5 Double map $5 Messenger bag $25 Limited ed. tin game box $10 4x Limited ed. dice sets $20
Estimated MSRP value: $128 Pay: $116 + shipping
Pay $18 $23 $50 $60 $66 $67 $81+ more to get (almost) the same stuff as (1)
3. Buy at 30% Deep Discount, no Dice Pouches, Messenger Bag, Ltd Ed. Tin Box or Ltd Ed. Dice
Base set $28 Reworded equiv. Distinguished Service Pack $5 Badges $5 K-Pack $3 MGF dice $5 Double map $5
Estimated MSRP value: $63 Pay: $51 + shipping
Pay $8 $13 $15 $16+ more to get stuff worth $65 less than (1). Even if you couldn't care less about the dice pouches, messenger bag, tin box and limited dice (as they have no game effects), you're effectively getting them better than free if you pick option 1.
4. Buy at 30% Deep Discount, Base Set only
Base set $28
MSRP value: $40 Pay: $28 + shipping
Pay at most $7 less to get stuff worth $25 $30 $57 $67 $73 $74 $88 less than option 1.
-----
Bottom line:
Kickstarter Basic Tier = Get a bunch of cool stuff worth $25 $30 $57 $67 $73 $74 $88 + free shipping + (your name in the rulebook) for only $7
(i.e. Worth over 12 times as much as the extra you pay)
Put another way: if there's at least one extra thing you definitely want amongst the bonus stuff (e.g. the messenger bag, the MGF special dice or the double map), the kickstarter's much better value.
-----
"Noncom" (Tier 2) Kickstarter Analysis
Add $25 to MSRP value for Atlantikwall expansion Add $15 to cost of Kickstarter Add $17.50 to cost of buying at 30% Deep Discount
Kickstarter Tier 2 is even better value. Get $88 of extras for only $4.50
(i.e. Worth almost 20 times as much as the extra you pay)
-----
(NEW) Overseas Supporters
These are much more difficult to analyse because of different import duties, retail prices and online discounts in various countries.
I've done a basic analysis of the solo packages below, compared to US MSRP. Obviously the 2x/3x packages are much better value.
Overseas, Enlisted Tier (1)
Estimated US MSRP value: $128 Pay: $85 ($35 + $50 shipping)
You're still getting 34% discount on US MSRP, even with shipping costs. $44 of tax or duty would push it over US MSRP.
Overseas, Nomcom Tier (2)
Estimated US MSRP value: $153 Pay: $100 ($50 + $50 shipping)
You're now getting 35% discount on US MSRP. $54 of tax or duty would push it over US MSRP.
Overseas, Officer Tier (3)
Estimated US MSRP value: $183 Pay: $125 ($75 + $50 shipping)
You're getting 32% discount on US MSRP. $59 of tax or duty would push it over US MSRP.
-----
NOTES:
- The 60k target will probably be reached ($54,262 at time of posting with 23 days to go, it's been going at roughly 1k per day in the past 4 days or so), most likely increasing the value of the kickstarter option by another $5 or more. has been reached. Valuation updated.
- [update] My money's now on the game hitting #1 at just over 76k. The game has hit #1. Valuation updated.
- The kickstarter is IMHO easily going to has hit the 85k gift (actual gift will be now announced). Valuation updated.
- I think it also has a shot at hitting 100k (reward to be announced). It's hit 100k. Valuation updated.
- There will be a 105k gift Target met, valuation updated. (I expect it'll be the last one, finally). I was wrong! 115k gift announced.
- There will be a final 140k gift (kickstarter has met target).
-----
My Valuation
I try to be conservative, to avoid overhyping the value of the rewards. (It wouldn't surprise me if it cost more than the below to get all the stuff later.)
Base set: MSRP is $40.
Distinguished Service Pack and Badges card packs: put at price of BGG promos. Badges will be sold online on Valley's website.
Dice pouches: valued at $2 each. See this post. Perhaps sold later on Valley's website?
K-Pack (6 cards - 45k + 70k + 105k rewards): $3. Priced at 60% of a 10-card BGG promo.
Dice: worth at least $1 per die (seeValley Games C&C dice), plus at least $1 more because they come with rules/gameplay effects (i.e. they are not just nicer replacements).
Extra double map: estimated value, at price of a BGG promo or probably at least $3-4 + shipping direct from Valley Games.
Messenger bag: will be sold by Valley at $25. I'm assuming these won't be distributed to online stores for sale; if they are, it could reduce the effective value by 10-30%.
Limited edition tin box: leftovers are likely to be sold by Valley for $10.
Limited edition RWB dice sets: I'm conservatively valuing these at $5 per set of 6. Good quality custom dice generally go for $1 per die. (See Valley Games C&C dice). FFG sells sets of 12 Battlelore dice at $7, but these have printed rather than etched symbols.

Would be interested in comparable figures for the U.K (or just Europe).
A number of these Kickstarters seem to allienate overseas buyers with the additional postage charges. Suspect this might be the case here once again.

Not to mention - as Daniel pointed out - the pledge amount has been increasing by about $1K/day (that rhymes!) and with 23 days to go and currently over 54K in pledges, you can pretty easily do the math...
$77,000 - the highest funded board game project on Kickstarter, ever!
So not only are you likely to get two more stretch rewards (at the 60K and 77K marks), making the value for your money even more insane, you're also likely to be part of history! (At least until the next big thing comes along )

I feel your pain, living in the UK too. Even if I could find 1-3 other people to share postage with on the higher kickstarters, it'd likely get a 20+ % hit on customs.

Yeah, I'd just noticed that D-Day Dice had fallen off the hotness, probably due to new the crop of Essen games.
Activity/thumbs on the DDD pages will still help it show up in the Board Game Threads front page, I think (which is actually how I myself first noticed the kickstarter).

I'm actually subscribed to the Kickstarter game set, so I saw the notice, and I keep looking at this and going "It looks nice, and I think it would be fun, but I have 700 games, do I really need this in my collection?"
And I'm starting to think yes...

Well... would it hit your table multiple times? If the answer is yes, then it might be worth it

I can't even imagine having 700 games... seems like only a small percentage of the games would ever hit the table. Still, I find D-Day Dice a fun little game... well, the trial version is a fun little game. I have not tried out the commercial version, but the more I read about it the more I want to play.

Excellent point. I backed Flash Point after playing the java version, and I was very pleased to be able to play the DDD print & play version before deciding whether or not to pledge.
Unfortunately, having played it twice, I know that the game simply isn't for me. Odd, because it's very similar in some ways to Roll Through The Ages (which I love). But there you go - not my cup of tea. I'll pass on the components I printed out to someone else in my games group to see it they like the game any better than me.
Quote: Cost/value analysis, applies to US/Canada only That's a bit of a problem, right there. I'm not in the US/Canada, and the maths don't add up if you're in the UK. Maybe as a group thing, but even the I think you'd be better off waiting until it appears in the UK shops. You'd get the game faster and cheaper, if my recent experiences of pre-ordering from the US is anything to go by.
Though that probably wouldn't stop me if I really liked the game.

One of the things that I am really pleased about is that they also kept the solo play game. This means that not only can I play it with my gamer friends, but I can also play this solo - it's a really good solo game! With the stretch rewards, this project is just getting better and better.
Edit: Although I'm in the UK, I went in with a group for a Line for Life pledge, which cuts the costs considerably.

Heheh, professional hazard. I used to be an editor, we're always tinkering with text to slightly change it. Unnecessary/redundant words are considered a huge sin...

Unfortunately, we pay a lot more for games by just being on this side of the pond.
I sometimes order games and have them sent with free shipping to a friend in the US (I visit him once a year, and carry the games back, perfectly legal in terms of customs).
Games I get that way are typically about 40% cheaper than if I buy them in the UK.

It's a case where I live with 2 other gamers, I get to game at work, I go to Origins and GenCon, and planning some local cons, etc. I don't play all of them at home, and I could stand to get rid of at least some of them, but I do play a fair number of them. Just wish I had more time and more players who would play a long game, like StarCraft.
Currently in for $140 for the Line for Life level, but going to go try the PnP, and if I change my mind, I'll cancel the Kickstarter.
