Thursday, 17 November 2011, I will be playing an Arimaa World League game against Eric Momsen. We're currently ranked #2 and #4 in the world. The #1 and #3 players, Jean Daligault and Greg Magne, will be doing tag-team live commentary.

The game starts at 3:00 in the afternoon U.S. Central time, so perhaps inconvenient for working U.S. viewers, but that's 19:00 London time, so maybe some European viewers can log in for some evening entertainment.

If you don't have an account, you can enter as a guest and listen anyway. The game to click on is Nombril vs. Fritzlein. Enjoy!

I'll definitely be there for as much as I can make! I'll probably miss the end of the match, unfortunately.

I fortunately have an account, but for those of us that don't, how does one log in as a guest? I never have figured that one out.

If you create a new account, you are temporarily a guest. It keys on your e-mail address, and if you really don't want to provide it, you can enter a new fake e-mail every time. But there's no reason not to give your true e-mail address; arimaa.com doesn't spam.

Dang, I missed it! I'd put it on my Calendar to watch all of those games, if there was, or if I knew where to find, a schedule

I believe the schedule is created around late Tuesday/early Wednesday. In the arimaa gameroom at the bottom is a list of scheduled games (when they aren't scheduled yet, they won't show). It also announces at the top each match, but not the exact time. I think the scheduled games shown at the bottom are the only way to see what matches are coming up.

But if you're just interested in the commentated games, I think that's a little extra work. First we need to find volunteers to commentate after the matches are scheduled. I think the announcements lists which games have commentary, but I don't think the scheduled match below has that information. I'm not sure.. And since that info can't be listed until we have volunteers, that won't show up on the website until later in the week. It does look like we're at least getting commentators for at least 1 or 2 of the big bouts each week.

Yes, you can see in the game room announcements what games are scheduled to have commentary. This "calendar" can be viewed simply by logging in to the game room and looking front and center. However, the games themselves are only scheduled two to six days in advance, and the volunteer commentators take a bit of time after that to figure out when they will be available, so there will often only be a couple of days advance notice of which games have commentary; not ideal if you need to plan you life around it.

On the bright side, we have recordings of some of the commentary at http://arimaa.com/arimaa/ftp/filemanager/filemanager.php in the 2011 AWL folder. Nombril vs. Fritzlein is audio only, so you will need to make the moves yourself: http://arimaa.com/arimaa/games/jsShowGame.cgi?gid=202367&s=w . The recording of aaaa vs. chessandgo has audio and video both, so the commentary can be enjoyed as is.

Here's a five-day lead time for you, SpeedRazor: On Sunday, November 27, at 7:00 a.m. US central time (13:00 London), I will give live audio commentary on Adanac vs. chessandgo, a rematch of the final game of the 2011 World Championship.

Thnx Dolus and Fritzlein I guess I've been missing out on a lot of the most important, and/or interesting games - both commented and uncommented - as I rarely go into the Arimaa gameroom of late.

I'll see about rectifying this...
