Hi AlL,

I own Steam, just wondering if I could play Steam using the AoS rules?
Does AoS require additional components? or is it that the map is not suited for AoS using the Steam set?

Thanks for your help.

Best,
Madhu

this has been asked and answered in the forums of both games. the answer is basically no and yes, depending on how seriously you take the game and what you're looking to get out of it. i'd suggest reading through the existing discussions to see if they answer your question sufficiently.

There are three differences:

1) The production system in AoS is dice-based. Steam cities aren't marked with numbers so you would need to track them somehow.
2) The income tracks are different, you would need to get an AoS one.
3) Age of Steam has tile limitations, you would need to track how many of each kind of track has been used which is a pain in the ass, specially since I doubt you will run out of track in any Steam map with the AoS tileset.

You have stepped into a local holy war. It's like asking if it's okay for a Christian to use a Koran in place of a Bible. Pointing out logical similarities does not count for anything.

Madhu,
Indeed you step into a war of games and there are lots of threads about it. But to save you time, there certainly is a quick and friendly answer to the question. I do the same myself. I own Steam, but I play lots of AoS-maps as well.
1. print the two additional boards (scoreboard and goods growth), which you can find in the files section of AoS.
2. write letters on your four grey new city tiles.
3. add dice to your Steam set and you're all set.
