Do you award and subtract prestige points for eliminated units in solo scenarios? I assume the player gets 1/2 of the prestige point for eliminated nonplayer units and that he must subtract 1/2 prestige if the nonplayer eliminates one of the solo players units? Is this right?

Unless the mission states otherwise, you play just as you would in a 2 player game. So yes, you would gain or lose prestige in this way.
