I compared AoC with WotR and read much comments an reviews. I can't see many differeces between the two games. For me both games seem to be same games with different themes.
Why is WotR much better reviewed compared to AoC?

The only similarity between AoC and WotR is the action selection mechanic. Other than that the games are nothing alike.
Check some reviews (and maybe videos) explaining each of the two.

It must be said that Conan (from a mechanical point of view) somehow started with the intention of being a multi-player WOTR. In development, it became quite a different beast...

I've read that it feels more like Chaos in the Old World, wich is a game a really enjoy.

This has come up so often recently... and I have NO idea, where it is coming from. Totally unfunded comparison, IMO.

While I enjoy Age of Conan, along with my gaming group, I'll always play WotR over it any chance I get.

Speaking for myself, with Christmas rapidly approaching (along with my birthday) I wanted to get another game that was in the vein of chaos, but slightly different.
Age of Conan looks like another territory holder/fighter/development point farmer in the style of Chaos, but differs in putting a greater emphasis on holding territories and with the wild card of Conan himself. I expect as much weight in terms of options and play as I would from Chaos, and it continues my personal theme of owning conquest games
I'm glad I wasn't the only one curious about if I'd like AoC, and I hope we're all satisfied with what we end up with this holiday season!

Maybe, I will know more when I open the box and start playtesting in a week
