I'm sure I read somewhere this is out of print, or am I getting confused with something else?
Thanks

Yeah, it's out of print. But you can find it places.
Also, the reprint of the base game is supposed to deal with some of the balance issues that this expansion addressed.

The expansion is "sold out" but you could still find it new in obscure places or used on the net.
However, the expansion is NOT compatible with the Second Edition of War of the Ring. There are two reasons for this:
1. The size of the Event cards will differ making it all but impossible to use the cards from the expansion with the Second Edition base cards.
2. The game balance would be heavily tilted in the favour of the FP.
The Battles games in the expanion would still be playable by using the figures from the Second Edition but the tokens used as damage counters in the battle games are no longer included in the Second Edition of War of the Ring (they were originaly replacement counters to be used when the board became too crowded). This could easily be fixed with any other samll tokens though.

Small dice are better than counters anyway.

It's well worth getting .... the battles for Rohan and Gondor are as tense as the main game and not so 'well travelled'

I sold my 1st edition game but kept the expansion for the Gondor and Rohan battles because they're almost as good as the base game.

Still available here:

Grab it while you can; I've seen copies for sale at over a Grand.
Any new version will be a different beast, probably without the stand-alone expansions for the main game.
My main hope is for a Wilderland board, with some new units for the three nations not featured in Rohan and Gondor.

But...you can't play the battles without pieces from the main game...

A lot of the expansion rules for the 1st edition game are not present in the second edition.. For example the Balrog.
Are you saying that I cant use these rules and new characters in the second edition game? This is very disappointing.

All the rules can be used but the cards from teh Twiligth expansion cannot easily be incorporated as they are a different size.
The rules from the Second Edition with Twilight added will also result in a game bakance in favour of the FP.

I have card from 1st edition in sleeves. I simply printed text from new cards an put into right sleeve.
2 more changes. Corsairs of Umbar faction come in play automaticly, when Southorns & Easterlings become "at war" and Semeagol's hunt tile is removed after draw. It works. Last time Sauron won.

What do you do with the aditional cards (the ones that do not have a corresponing base game card)?

All was repleaced with card from expansion, additional cards were added. Only one difference with Ents cards - additional card can be played when Gandalf the White is in Fangorn or Rohan (2nd edition rule)
