In this scenario from the expansion, called Trump Card, there are three players.
1. Jim Raynor (blue terrans), also controlling some green Zerg. 2. Aldaris (orange protoss) 3. Mensk (red terrans)
Jim Raynor is carrying a Psi Emittor. He needs to drop this Psi Emittor on a planet and activate it to lure hordes of Zerg to this planet. This planet is controlled by the Mensk player, and Jim Raynor must try to destroy the forces of Mensk, either by destroying them himself or letting it be overrun by Zerg. I suppose this sounds familiar for players of the cumputer game.
Meanwhile, the Protoss must destroy the two Zerg bases, and the Mensk player must hold his base for so long to win the game.
My question are for the Jim Raynor player. If these rules are played incorrectly, it makes the game a lot harder/easier for him. That's why I'm wondering how you guys would play this.
1) Jim Raynor (the hero) must reach "planet IV". If he reaches an area on this planet the Psi Emittor token is placed on this planet, and the Zerg will try to overrun this planet.
Now, nowhere in the rules or scenario is said what is meant with "to reach". If there are empty areas on the planet, it's easy. Jim Raynor goes there, no combat ensues and the Psi Emittor is employed. But if all areas on the planet are filled with enemies and Jim Raynor must go in combat, what then?
- The Jim Raynor hero must only attack. He does not need to win. He flies to an area, he drops the Emittor, and then fights. It doesn't matter if he wins or not.
- The Jim Raynor hero must attack, his force needs to win and control the area, but Jim Raynor himself does not need to survive.
- The Jim Raynor hero must attack, his force needs to win and control the area. In addition, Jim Raynor himself needs to survive the battle.
In case you're wondering. After the Psi Emittor is activated, the Zerg (controlled by the Jim Raynor player) may move, where before they couldn't move. Whenever a Zerg unit moves to an area with enemy forces, the enemy forces are instantly destroyed, without combat, and they will occupy the attacked area.
2) The victory conditions for Jim Raynor state that, if at least one Zerg unit moves to "Planet IV", he wins. When is this victory condition checked?
The Zerg force (controlled by the Jim Raynor player) moves before everyone else, at the start of the turn.
Thus, is this victory condition checked like normal victory conditions at the end of the turn, or does the victory "trigger" instantly, at the moment the zerg move to "Planet IV"?
Thanks!

1) I think the best (and most fair) way to resolve this is to assume that you need to control the area where Jim Raynor gets. Until the battle is won, such area is contested, so he can't deploy a Psi Emitter. Also notice that presence of enemy base prevents a control of area (until the Regrouping Phase, when base is destroyed).
2) I think that if this happens, the rest of the round shouldn't be resolved at all. Keep in mind that Zerg forces are somewhat limited in this scenario, so combined forces of Aldaris and Mengsk should be able to destroy them quite easily during their counterattacks on the neighbouring planet. Otherwise it would be much more difficult (probably too difficult) for Raynor to win in this way.

But what happens when the blue terran wins this battle (and subsequently would control the area), but Jim Raynor dies during the same battle?
Thanks for the answer!

I would say that he need to survive at least 1 battle there ;]
