Anybody know what the deal is with the Fantasy Flight release? Their website still says fourth quarter 2011, but it seems like this has been "at the printer" forever and it's not in their Christmas sale.

I don't know the US situation, but the UK distributors have just told us to expect it in January 2011 so I imagine it will be the same over in the US.

Hey! Thats my Fish! is the only other one I know of.

FFG EC still doesn't have any in stock yet either. Sad because I would love to pick up a copy.

Thank you very much for your reply! I guess I'll take a look at HTMF too.. I am really enjoy the new portable box size and low price point. I hope they'll release a whole series of mini box games! Or maybe not, depending on my wallet..

Indeed it does. I got thrown by the "18 in stock" also showing on the page.

Just added this to my existing CSI pre-order, so it's keeping good company with Glory To Rome Black Box Edition and Thunderstone: Advance.

It looks like FFG just updated their website and the game has finally made it off the boat and should be in stores soon, I hope!

Yes, the U.S. street date was March 28, 2012, so it should be available now.

Just picked it up this morning at the FF EC. Had seen it before but knew little of it, they sold me on it, for the price point I figured why not looks fun.

Can you open it up and tell/show us what is inside? I'm curious to see if any components have been changed/removed.

Having never seen the inside of the previous release I can't tell for sure but from what I've read from the previous release the components are the same at least what's there. Looks like they changed the Balance and Domination Tokens so they don't have a border and the art and color covers the entire disc.

I will admit that I quickly decided to hate this box. Its small and compact but having a couple Silver Line Games I don't find them to be any less portable and yet hold the cards in their specific areas better than this square thing with no insert so they slide around. Pretty much throwing the box out and putting the cards in a standard card box (which is annoying as the rules being square won't fit quite as nice but I hate the sound of sliding around cards when I pick up and transport a game).

Art even looks the same from older images I see, so pretty much looks like a smaller box and half the price are the only changes. Maybe some better clarified rules, but I'd need to locate an old rulebook to confirm.

Ahh it appears they have specialized scoring tokens in the new one as well with art pertaining to each side instead of a glass bead of sorts. If I can find my camera I'd snap a shot.

Thanks for the details. I'm not sure what the reasoning was for going to a square box but I it would have been nice to not have cards sliding around. What I'll probably do is bag up the cards before I store the box.

I did that, but think I'll end up sleeving them in the end and just add them to my small card box that already has a few card games in it so I can just toss it in my bag so I have options. The square box is dumb, they easily coulda added a small tiny cardboard insert of types to prevent said sliding but I'm sure they woulda charged another $3.

Finally played it today, great game. I totally didn't expect to have that much though have to go into one move, boy those 9 value objectives end up with crazy amount of groups being pulled and just a ton going on. Played three games both of us new in around 2 hours not bad I think. We are going to use this as our warm up next week before we hit Twilight Struggle :-D

I just opened my copy of the new edition and what I was worrying about is true.

The replaced the poker chips!!! I am so disappointed with this edition.

The previous chips were actual poker chips and these are just cardboard.
