The Reaction Test's results give a set of situations reactions. You perform the reaction that applies. In this case, Charges perform a certain action, "Those" in rough or building hexes, etc. will do something specific, "Others" (i.e., any survivor that does not fall into wither of the two previous categories) will Duck Back (9.2.1).
Only one of the conditions will apply for each result. The survivors must perform the reaction. Even when a Star is allowed to choose a result, she must perform the reaction that applies to her condition/situation.
For example, suppose Tonya must take a Received Fire Test. She is a Star and can choose her reaction. She could choose the Pass 1 D6 result. If she was not Charging, or "In a rough or building hex, able to return fire," she would Duck Back.

"duck" = drop down to avoid being hit or seen, or withdraw quickly behind cover.
It's not slang, that's an alternative meaning of the word. It must, I suppose, originate from a duck feeding from underwater weeds, but it's now a proper English language word.

For our purposes, "Duck Back" means to move in such a manor as to take cover in rough or building terrain, or to place such terrain between the survivor fired on and the survivor that instigated the Received Fire Test.
In the French manual, it's called Sauter se mettre couvert.
