I am new to this great game and this is my first battle with more than 80 pts per side. Army sizes were around 240 pts each. Objective was to seize most of the city at the end of turn 7. Starting positions were at bare edges of the map.

Russians immediately charged towards the city, mostly out of sight of German artillery and with help of one LL transport which moved back and forth. One sniper got caught in the open and was killed by mortar, while the other managed to get into the city, infallibly bringing germans down one by one when they arrived.

After few turns desperate gunfights started in the city. Infantry rushed directly at each other, avoiding defensive fire from multiple directions as russians seized greater part of the city earlier, gaining lifesaving ground cover. Some units got cut off at side forests, afraid to continue under artillery fire.

Vehicles tried to outflank infantry and get better deadly aim from stretched city sides. German tanks got advantage from city cover easily disrupting russian vehicles. Tiger found nice overview place hidden from AT and started dealing devastating blows, and once T34s and KV-1 got disrupted they were unable to return threatening fire.

Aftermath
Even as german tanks disabled all except hidden Priest, infantry couldn't take away much of the city from red army. Sniper and machine
gun were deployed at right spot, spitting fast death to desperate
incoming soldiers, while mortars and artillery rained deadly shells
from sky to soldiers or disrupting vehicles. The russian soldiers once again proved that superiority by numbers works!

And some discoveries
AT's are incredible useful. Mortars and artillery are deadly
especially if helped by extra pair of eyes (one of panzers was
destroyed by Priest, which harrassed whole map).
Ammo dump is invaluable. There are so many 1s to re-roll during almost every attack. It's very good investment.

I will add some physical markers on cards for units with specials to
hit (cannot be hit on long range or in cover etc) as it's easy to
overlook during game.

From setup to cleaning it took around 4 hours. I like quick setup and
disassembly, and played very quickly through turns and phases, without
much analyzing. I like it that way in big points games as it somewhat
simulates fog of war - often you forgot to act with few units or make
not so smart move, which could be interpreted as real battle confusion
and lack of information.

I know I am late to the party with AAM game, but as a upper side I can benefit from the great community this game have. I don't know why this game is so undervalued. While not a simulation (which if you ask me couldn't exist without a third side as a game master) it is very enjoyable end deep enough for a evening blasting.

Have fun!
