I used to have the 2nd edition, and I loved it. Through a series of residential moves over the last several years, I seemed to have lost it. Most reviewers seem to agree that the 3rd edition is inferior.

Two questions:

Does any retailer still have new copies of the 2nd edition?

How does the 1st edition compare to the 2nd? I see much commentary on the 2nd versus the 3rd, but very little on the 1st versus the 2nd. Are they essentially the same in terms of rules?

This discussion, once again, seems to be about the Eurogames version(s) compared to the FF version. I am wondering whether there is a difference, in terms of rules, between the 1st edition (Eurogames) and the 2nd edition (Eurogames/Descartes).

It would help knowing where are you...

I think that 1st edition came with a metal mini for the condottiere and towers as conquered region markers. And I think that 2nd edition only changed those two things, a wooden block for the condottiere and wooden cylinders for the markers.

I owned 3rd edition but traded it away, and then got 2nd edition, which I like best. I found a replacement mini for the condottiere, so the only thing I'm "missing" are the tower markers, but that's no big deal.

Thank you. That helps.

I live in Illinois (USA). I think I may have to buy a used version of the 2nd edition, which is fine, but I was hoping that some seller might still have new, unopened copies.
