I purchased the new version of AH for some time but I had never played with it.
A few days ago, I opened the box and placed the Armet and Fleets. I believe that the map, very nice, is very small compared to the counters that represent fleets and armies. I think, unfortunately, this collector's edition is to be beautiful, but not very comfortable to play ....................... I printed a map 2X .........................
Too bad.

Agreed, the map is quite attractive, but compared to the 'ugly' maps that came before, this full-package is a downgrade. The cardboard chits just don't stand up to the pieces (either plastic, wood, or metal) of the previous versions.

I like the classic and elegant graphic design of this edition, but the colors are really frustrating--both on the map itself, as well as the armies, ships, and supply center control tokens. Heck - the flag printed on one of them (France, I think), looks identical to another (Russia, I think) but for the order of the stripes.
When I have used this edition in the classroom, it's caused sigificant frustration and trouble for one of my colorblind students. I ended up just taking a sharpie marker and marking everything with a letter to indicate the country.

The only saving grace of the newest edition is the price. It's by far the least expensive edition of the game ever produced, obviously aimed at new players. Anybody who finds that they like the game and plan to play it a lot will undoubtedly look for one the nice versions on eBay.
Hopefully the next edition that Hasbro puts out will be some nice deluxe version.
