This variant allows you to simulate the 2012 Presidential Election before it happens. States are updated to reflect current electoral college votes and voting trends. Card mechanics are kept mostly the same, although the events obviously are different. For example, the "Missile Gap" event is not relevant any more, but it has the same effects as many events would have today (such as the capture of a terrorist). The "Civil Rights" events of 1960 become "Culture Wars" events today, and have similar effects. Finally, three slight rules changes are adapted from discussions on Board Game Geek, taking into account the new media landscape. With these small alterations, the game's mechanics will allow you to simulate the coming election.

See "Bitter Choices" in the file upload section. (Edit: Obviously it may be a couple days before/if it gets approved.)

I've interested to see what new game mechanics you are recommending. Thanks for the heads up.

It's up now. Lately I've been calling the Republican candidate Newt Romney.
