I bought GIPF set 3 under the assumption that these potentials could be used in the game they are named after.

After reading the rules though they appear to be added potentials for use in the GIPF game and not for YINSH or DVONN PUNCT.

Am I missing something or are these in fact only for GIPF?

If it is indeed true, then it appears that the only set that has any use in the GIPF series beyond the GIPF game is Set 2 with the twelve extra ZERTZ rings.

Yeah, you got it.

They are pieces to add the other games as "side games" to your main in progress GIPF game.

Time to order GIPF....

You are correct, the potentials are not used 'in game' for YINSH. However using them links YINSH and GIPF as a YINSH game may be triggered by a GIPF move.

Thanks for the quick response, guys. I guess it is time to put these up on the trading block then since I am not a fan of GIPF and never intend to own it or even play it again.
