In a 2 player game (or any game), if you have moved a Maoi but are unable to erect it or mark it, can the other player mark it at the end of that transportation phase or does it remain unmarked until the next transportation phase?

If you're first to go next turn there would be no point marking a Maoi, and you should spend your tribe marker to get another half-tablet.

That's correct. My copy of the game doesn't have English rules, so this won't be exact, but:
Quote:
* Marking a moai or hat
If a moai or hat wasn't erected after transport, then it remains where the transport ended. If it wasn't marked, a different player can take control of it during the next transport phase.

Brilliant! Thank you. I know that it mentioned if it was left unmarked 'in the previous transportation phase' then a player could erect it or mark it. But, since this step in the rulebook was written after the bulk of the transportation phase rules, I wasn't sure if was referring to the just-finished transportation phase, or an even earlier one

In a two-player game this makes it easier to leave one unmarked and purchase more half-rongas, as you can plan to leave one unmarked when you're the starting player far more easily!

Thanks for answering, folks.
