Well I read all the messages about the new game and I think its widely exhagerated mainly by FFG. You cannot ask a company to grow balls so I thought it would be a nice idea to post back stories. They can be nationalistics or not, but surely creativity would be awesome in a FREE society.
Here is mine:
Quote: The year is 2121. Particle beam technology redefined warfare. The former USA started using it twenty years ago in a massive scale. No western nation weeped Iran as the first target but neither cheered it when the new elected president declared a preemtive attack to any nation suspected of harboring terrorist cells. Tehran, Isfahan, Ahvaz, and Qom were the first cities to be wiped out. 10 million souls faced the hell of technology gone bad. But the killing didnt stop there. Another 7 cities dissappeared from the face of the earth during the next months. Then it was Turkey, Saudy Arabia, North Corea and Egypt.
Still the world was silent until the Madrid incident in 2113. In the press conference USA officials said there were several dozens terrorist cells in the capital of Spain. For that Madrid was obliterated and added 4 million extinguished candles to the body count. United Nations requested the USA dissarmed that deadly weapon but everybody was scared their country would be next so the voting for sanction was lost.
It was the beggining of a campaign of Terror that stroke the entire world: Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil and China received the worst of it and then the unthinkable happened. The new Patriot Act II law was passed overnight defining a virtual Martial law to North America. The congress was dismantled and all rights were removed. A Police State governed with cruel hand.
In New York massive gathering of protestors where repressed but still comming on the thousand, tens of thousands. It was september 2115. Fearing the protests would spread... the finger of God (as many americans called it) stroke the city burning discidents and nationalists as well. Corporate America was planning this for a while as a week later a new technology isolated the country with an deadly energy field working as a wall. USA was no more and a new name rised: The Patriotic Conglomerate of America or Fortress America for the rest of the world.
Now Americans were the prisioner and anybody not compliying was sent to labor camps or killed. The secret police excercised the orders given with deadly accuracy. The United Nations was silent but the American ambassador was discharged from the meetings. It was madness, fear made flesh... Germany, France, Canada, Ussr protested loudly and the consequences were terrible. Major cities were stroke in a week and almost all but a few non american satellites were destroyed by new weapons installed in space. Finally in 2117 it was the United Nation building and all its surrounding.
For 3 years nations stood silent as if the world gone mad could not voice their outrage. Stories from the new America spread through dissidents. Massive campaigns of purification took place in the country. Latinos, Blacks, Asians were being hunted, slaved. Something had to be done. In secret the free peoples of the world joined and a Rebelion was born. Scientists fleeing Fortress America carried with them the blueprint of some technologies and jamming and disruptive devices where made to go through the ENERGY WALL and to render the automatic targeting systems impossible to hit. In months an army was built in secret while American satellites were hacked by the last remaining ones owned by China. This was a one time opperation that would free Americans and the World from oppression or in darkness bind them. The year is 2121 and this is the story of the last battle against Fortress America.

The year is 2001. International gamers angry at the backstory of this game have launched an attack against Minnesota, the home of Fantasy Flight Games. While diplomats are hard at work to keep the tension from escalating into all-out war, in faraway Japan, videogame designer Hideo Kojima comes up with a plot even more stupid and meta than this! That, of course, cannot stand. There will have to be be a fight. Even if Kojima couldn't care less. You owe it to yourself - after all, you've shilled out 80 bucks on this! WHY ARE YOU STILL READING

Where are the Godless Commies when you really need them .The new Fluff really doesn't hang together that well,the original wasn't much better as to why the US needs to be invaded.You just need "We Will Bury You"Commies to get the full flavor of the Game.
I may get this Game but change the Fluff to where the Ecomonic Crisis results in a revitalized Communist movement sweeping Europe,Asia and South/Central America.Thus besides the economic & military threat the US would present to these workers paradises(which could probably be handled far short of an actual gobal war) you have have an Ideological bases to crush the US.Wars over Ideology are always the most irrational.
So we now have the Red Tide who really think that our grandchildern should live under Commumism and are fanatic enough to make it happen by force.Now that's FLUFF

Oh hell, it's not like any potential backstory is better than the others. Honestly, the Reaganist hysteria of the old one is at least as wild as the 'Terror Weapon' suggestion.
So let's just have fun with it.
"The Laser Age"
2020: While fusion power remains just below break-even, its massive output leads to a new technology: trans-continental laser beams. America's strategic edge grows as its laser towers neutralize missile threats and even begin test strikes on target arrays in the Sea of Japan and North Atlantic.
2022: European scientists make a shocking discovery: laser photolysis has dramatically reduced Northern-hemisphere ozone levels. The EU, Russia, and China petition America to cease laser operations. US officials downplay the effects and, citing national security concerns, persist in laser tests. NASA tests its first laser-assisted launcher.
2027: Japan integrates its orbital PV satellite network into the US laser grid, creating a vast orbital power transfer grid. Cheap space launches and cheap electricity anywhere on or near Earth fuel a major expansion of US orbital industry. Meanwhile, ozone nearly disappears from the North. Crop yields collapse world-wide; only America's massive production surplus protects it. Concern grows worldwide over a solution to the Laser Problem.
2028: The Mexico Incident: Unknown hackers commandeer a large orbital power station, redirecting its beam from a receiver in Arizona south, raking through numerous Mexican cities over two days before a ragtag team of astronauts destroy the relay sat in a daring spacewalk. Foreign aid workers flood the devastated country, along with numerous "advisers".
2029: As America reevaluates cyber-security, a greater threat appears without warning: Russian and Chinese troops assault both coasts of the country, as the Mexican Army, with supporting contingents from dozens of countries, crosses the border into the South. Their goal: an end to the Laser Age.

How about an example from history?
By 1861 Mexico had stopped paying its foreign debts. A coalition including Spain, Britain, and France sent land and naval forces against Mexico to force payment. Spain and Britain eventually withdrew but the French, encouraged by the weakness of the USA during the Civil War, attempted to take control of Mexico.
So... by 2019 the USA owes billions upon billions to China, the European bankers, and the Mercosur oil barons. Uncle Sam tells them all to buzz off. The creditor nations send young men with missiles, tanks, and planes to collect on the past due account.

Director Zhang addressed the meeting: "Leaders, scientists, industrialists: hello everyone." His English was perfect; it was also a literal translation of the formulaic opening of every Chinese speech. The delegates, though, were far more alert than usual.
Even last year, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was a mere formality, a place for the Kremlin and Zhongnanhai to grip-and-grin and float wild schemes for a new world order without America: new reserve currencies, grand hydroelectric projects (ever the darling of China's engineer-emperors), and far-reaching alliances between the two great Asian powers.
But now, their phones laid silent as Zhang spoke. "The Meteorological Bureau has shown their third-phase program is a complete success. Rainfall in all test districts has increased by 40%. Further, our export pipelines will be ready in the next six weeks. Soon, Central Asia will become a colorful paradise of farms and gardens. We expect to overfulfill the Second Five-Year Meteorological Plan by 17%. We are happy to have achieved such success through international cooperation."
The room was too quiet for such good news. A second, much younger Chinese official rose to speak. Zhang was mechanically polite: "Yes, Mr. Lee?" Just 'mister': whether in business or bureaucracy, Zhang never forgot his status.
"Thank you, Zhang-zhuren." David Lee was Financial Secretary and de-facto foreign secretary of the Hong Kong SAR. "We have made spectacular progress and have surely reached a solution to our long-standing water difficulties. However, I am concerned about our efforts at foreign cooperation. The Americans continue to complain about drought-like effects and threaten sanctions. I fear we must take them more seriously."
Grumbling. Half the room agreed with Lee, and indeed, many of the Russians would have put it much more strongly (the translators often faltered as they tried to gloss certain deputies' wilder curses). But a spirit of cooperation reigned today. Zhang acknowledged the concerns aloud, and tacitly dismissed them.

2000 km away, Liaoning Province:
Zhang Rong was also a Director. But her portfolio was more modest than her younger brother's. Her parents never let her forget it either. Unlike many, they were not content to confine their ambitions to the son they paid so much for. Rong studied the hourly reports: temperatures inside the array had been growing steadily for the past 17 hours. No one knew why.
Rong had always been the more capable of the two. She made top Gaokao scores and went to Beijing University. Her brother studied abroad. She oversaw the creation of the largest and most successful weather-control array in human history. He used their father's guanxi to reach the boards of numerous corporations and governing councils. She controlled the floods and brought the rain; he took the credit.
But now she was baffled. Every part of the array was heating. Not just the pumps, not just the beamers, not just the reflectors---everything was gaining 3 degrees per hour. Even the ground! She glanced again at the scraps on her desk. If this continued, the containment tanks could fail catastrophically. She couldn't even imagine it. Shenyang was 40 minutes downwind. It would be worse than Bhopal . . .
After 10 minutes arguing with undersecretaries, assistant deputies, and special attaches, she was on the phone with the District Commander, begging for an evacuation order. Then she heard the first blast.

In a century of apocalyptic science fiction, no one had quite forseen the first intercontinental laser attack. As hackers and whistleblowers took to the internet, the answer became indisputable: the US had harnessed its orbital relay system to destroy the Liaoning Array. Perhaps they had not known the nature of the chemicals within, or their sheer quantity. But the damage was indisputable, as the chemical plume wafted across Northeast Asia. Within a week, the first forces landed in both Washingtons. Countries around the world allied with an SCO "Emergency Cooperation Council", and the world moved as one to strip America of its newly-labled "Lasers of Mass Destruction." But the already-desperate Americans would offer far more resistance that anyone guessed.
The will of the people and the power of the Laser Relays are revealed as the world lays siege to . . .

...Except that nearly all the debt is dollar denominated. So instead the US just prints a lot of money and pays off the debt.

Sad but true.
In this game the USA will be giving up cities, oil regions, agricultural regions, and mineral regions instead of devalued currency to settle the debts.

In 2010, a powerful personality rose to power in America. With his rise, he covertly brainwashed millions of young Americans too follow his evil hidden agenda.
In 2011, the rioting began. Millions of followers took to the streets, anarchy rose to record highs. The evil orator's followers were too strong in numbers. Slowly, they began to take over local government offices, city centers, and police departments.
Later that year the US Federal Government asked their allies to the North for military assistance. But it was too late. Other nations, now more powerful than the seiged-from-within US had Canada in their pockets. And it was they who implanted this most powerful enemy within the US's borders.
2012. The US government falls. States have no choice but to follow the new dictator's orders. His followers have grown ever strong.
2013. Russia, N. Korea and Iran band together, ready to divide the now fallen US. However, one thing they had not counted on...their evil puppet decides not to give up power, and dares these nations to take it...by force.
The axis coalition meets to discuss the plan, to take their nation as planned from the hands of their plan-gone-wrong.
How could their puppet be so strong? How could their man gather such a strong army of followers? To them, it is a mystery. But all they know is that together, unified, N. Korea, Russia and Iran must take out the now out of control Justin Bieber!

they found the world of sera, and a few months later america lands on seras emty waterplace. soon after that the native serainer are defend by the locus. the humsealus try to conquer the new conty land america from three side an declare war to the nativeamericans .
so america is not only defend therself by angry colorful 3 armies (red, yello and a different color) no the fight for the new american world.
