Hi All,

Finally finished reading the rules and trying it out as a 3P game but playing solo to get a hang of things. Some places where I need help:

- What happens to the Tech 2 or Tech 3 tiles when we enter the rail phase. These were flipped in the canal phase- will they continue remaining there and can I score the VP's again (for the 2nd time) after the rail phase in the end game scoring?

- Also on the coal mines or Iron works of higher technology levels (2,3) the cubes continue to remain on the board in the rail phase right?

- When I decide to sell cotton to an external market port as these can't be flipped should I consider selling to an external market as a distant market sell and flip the distant market tile?

- When I count the VP's for the canals (connections) I focus on only my building's gold circles or every building that is flipped (including other player's)?

- Sometimes the same building has to be counted twice when counting the gold circles for connections, is that fine?

- The income levels should be as it was when the canal phase finished and the game continued into the rail phase, right?

Thanks for the help.

Best,
Madhu

The answer to all your questions is yes. The third question I had a little difficulty understanding. When you sell cotton, unless you are flipping a port, you are selling to the distant market and need to use the demand tiles. For the fourth question, you count all the gold circles, including pre-printed ones on the board, and those on other players' industry tiles.

Tech 2 tiles or higher will remain in place and you will score again the VPs at the end of rail phase.

Yes, the cubes remain on the tiles.

Yes, if you sell cotton the an external location, you will actually sell the cotton to the distant market under the normal distant market rules.

You need count all the gold symbols, doesn't matter who owns the tiles.

Yes, it's fine if you are scoring a different connection.

Yes, the income levels stay where they are currently.

Have fun!

Just to be clear, you count the number of circles, NOT the number in the circles. We made that mistake once, and it made for a silly race to see who built the most rails.
