I will be playing this game with 3 players over the holiday period.
I would like to use both maps as it looks impressive when set up.
Will this work with 3(suggestion in manual..use eastern Map only.)

I was thinking of doubling sides 3*2 to have a full 6 sided game but stuck on a way to resolve victory results.
any suggestions welcome thanks.

Merry Christmas to all!!

It will work - nicely. But it will just take a lot longer. In regard to victory results... perhaps a set limit of turns? And then count up the territories and sea zones... perhaps add some other victory condition bonuses that have to do with the player's government type, like the original Attack!

Generally in free-for-all type conquer the world games it is problematic if there are too many "minor neutral" territories to grab after the initial setup. You will typically see the first many turns (=hours?) being a multiplayer solitare to grab these nations because nobody wants to engage in a war against a player nation if there are easier targets. If this process takes too long, many players will loose interest in the game, because it lacks intensity.

If you really insist on using the full map, I think your idea of giving each player two sides would be a good solution. However to avoid the problem I mentioned above, you should probably not just use them as extra pieces for each player. More areas need to start under player control. You could run them as parallel allied nations where a player ultimately scores for his worst positioned nation (to discourage cannibalizing one on behalf of the other). Alternatively handle them as one nation, but be sure to start with more territories and units.

You can take my game… when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the board!

I wonder if just doubling the movement value of all troops to make the map feel smaller would work at all....
(Edit: On second thought, not really. Besides wanting to adjust other things like Rail Transport and Factories, you'd still be limited to expanding your territory 1 region a turn as you fight neutrals. So expansion wouldn't happen any faster.)
