This is intended as a series of condensed mini-reviews for people who want to quickly learn the most important aspects of a game
You can find my other reviews in the series here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/96101/my-2-cents
1. Number of games = 33
2. Components
A deck of large sized good quality cards with lots of colorful and strange pictures on them, rabbits and a track to keep score with and voting chits of cardboard. All good quality, the box is used to keep score which is nice but it's a bit too big.
3. Rule book
Small rule book, with examples, the game is very easy to teach and to learn.
4. Gameplay
In turn order each person will be the 'storyteller', they say(mime) anything about a card they hold. Then each person tries to pick a card in their hands that matches what the storyteller said, then all these cards are shuffled and each person has to guess which was the storyteller's card.
5. Complexity
Very simple game, can be played by anyone from small kids up to grandparents with the same enjoyment and chances to win.
6.Luck factor
Small. If you don't pick the cards at random, your choices are made based on other people's input
7.Player interaction
Large. As I've said your choices depend on the other player's cards and stories. Lots of table talk, you can help or try to trick the other players in making good/bad choices.
8. Recommended for (number of players) / Replay value
The more the merrier, now with Dixit Odyssey you can play it up to 12 players. Each card has so many things in it that you can tell hundreds of stories about them, you can play the game lots of times without repeating a story(even repeating one could refer to other cards completely)
9. Pros
-a game that can be played with anyone, kids or grandparents -a lot of fun, a lot of player interaction and table talk -good game to draw people into boardgames, I haven't met a person who didn't like Dixit
10. Cons
-it's not really a game, it's more of an experience, most of the time the scores don't really matter -the box is too big
11. Other considerations
One of the best party games, you're almost guaranteed that everyone will like it
12. Rating 8/10

Well, my wife doesn't really like Dixit. She finds having to come up with these stories extremely stressfull, which is odd because she was a creative writing major in college. I think it's fun, but there are those out there who aren't really into it. She would much rather play. Wits and wagers or say anything (or puerto Rico for that matter).
Nice review.

Well, clearly the OP hasn't met your wife!

I agree that the percentage of people who will like the game is not 100% however the particular issue you addressed might be a factor of your group, maybe you all look at her when she has to tell the story or even ask her to hurry. I'm sure that if you spend that time just chit-chatting until she finds the right story she wouldn't feel so stressed. Or maybe you pay too much attention to the score and she would feel bad coming in last and tries to find some good stories.
As I've said I consider it more of an experience than a game and I think the group is very important for this type of game.
Thank you for all the kind words

This is a great point. I really like Dixit but the box and scoring track are ridiculously big. I would have loved the cards, rabbits, and a score track in a package 1/4th the size.

I'm a creative writing major too, and have found that some of that stress can come from people expecting a "good story" from me for that very reason.

I asked, it's just the game, not the group. There also can be challenges playing with people with different backgrounds. Sometimes it's hard to find a joint frame of reference for people, or metaphores or stories that come across properly. My only point is that most people I've introduced to Dixit like it, but it's not a game for everyone.

Great review and I agree with all of your pros and cons about the game. So far everyone that I have introduced the game to has enjoyed it. The funny thing about this game is that no one seems to care what the score is but everyone gets extremly happy if their card gets picked when they are NOT the story teller
