I have just been watching jonathan ross's top 100 toys program and cluedo was about 15th. I did much complaining to my gf that for a board game to be in the top 20 it could have at least been a good one and had the tv people never heard of board game geek?

anyway, ive just thought isnt there any way to make this game more involving, more cerebral, less tedious and generally better.

I played this game years ago with a family and generally the game is based too much on dice rolling (lets face it if you roll 17 1's in a row your pretty screwed). If you ask somebody if they have a card that you yourself actually have it confuses the hell out of everybody and you end up winning as all their calculations are wrong. I love this about the game but the whole board, dice roll moving etc doesnt do it for me.

Any suggestions please?

We have found Sleuth to be a far better game, but it's OOP. But maybe you could somehow make a Clue variant based off of its rules.

You could try Clue: The Card Game. It's a lot like Clue, but you don't roll dice to move.

I've also heard people playing Clue without rolling dice. You just move to the room you want to go to.
