We have had some people asking Mayday to make a "sleeve" for the tiles, they are 100 MM X 85 MM or there abouts... is anyone else out there interested in this size? Let us know and if we see enough demand we will certainly look at doing this!

How many sleeves per pack and premium or standard thickness?

I would definitely be interested, but how would you make a hexagonal sleeve? I would think just a square would be cumbersome in trying to lay out the grid of tiles.

How about finding a service that will make thick cardboard tiles vs card tiles??? Wouldn't that be much better?

Interested, but thicker tiles would be better.

I'm wondering if they would be useful or usable on games like Eclipse. The tiles are thich enough, sure, but you still want to protect the "paint job". And if they were covered, I would not worry so much about giving them a good shuffling.

How about laminating them? SImple to do and most likely cheaper to do than buy special sized (if even possible) sleeves

This sounds like a great idea to me and I'm definitely interested! 50 per pack would probably be fine (that's the number of tiles) afterall.

Would buy them in a heartbeat! 50 premium per pack would probably make most sense, but I would buy them regardless. Please do this!

We will check on the feasibility of making a hex shaped sleeve first and foremost. If we can cut and seal at one end along 2 sides of the hex then we should be able to get a hex shaped sleeve that would fit nicely, sorta like this:

We are checking into this. in the mean time does anyone have the exact dimensions? I am guessing from side to side it is 85 MM and from tip to tip it is 100 MM? If anyone can confirm that would be great. This is a strange project indeed.

From a pressing/sealing standpoint for the sleeve assembly thats possibly the way to go. Depends on how your machines cut the sleves and if they can be retooled to cut at those non-standard angles.

As for the sleeve itself. Having 2 sides open and the other 4 sealed is about the only way you are going to be able to do it without the sleeves flopping around too much or cards falling out. Its easy enough to prototype with typing paper to see even. (We learned this while making paper hexagon shaped card holders once.)

These are not equilateral hexes though. The top and bottom edge of the hex is 54mm, and the other four edges are 50mm. horizontal tip to tip is 100mm.

I would be interested in these! The tiles are very thin and are hard to shuffle without damaging.

Keep in mind that these are NOT regular hexagons. They are slightly oblong.

EDIT: Jim beat me to it.

If these are indeed feasible to make as hexagons, I would buy a pack assuming a price of like $5-10.

Ideally, I'd love if the set contained like 55 sleeves (assuming there are, in fact, 50 Location Cards in the game). Just in case a sleeve or two don't fit or are damaged, or if a sleeve or two rip or become damaged later. Always nice to have a few spares for those sorts of scenarios.

I would definitely play around $10 for a single pack of enough sleeves for the whole location deck.

If you did it, they would probably have to have a black or solid color background - not just clear. There are a few tiles in my copy that had small blemishes on them when I opened the box - such that they are identifiable from the rest.

I think its an intriguing idea.

Although, even as a huge advocate for sleeving, I think this might be overkill. Then again, it depends on how much the tiles get directly handled, and if there is a big enough market.demand for it, then that is what is really important.

I would definitely buy a set of 50 (I would actually recommend 60 per pack for spares). Also, even though the tiles themelves are not perfect hexagons, I would make the sleeves perfect hexagons large enough to fit the tiles. It would make shuffling sooo much easier. Also, I would much prefer them to be clear, as I like to see the actual tile back.

They get shuffled. laid out and flipped over. And since they are card thickness, a sleeve could help with flipping them even.

The big question is indeed wether its worth the effort of reconfiguring the machines to make these odd shaped sleeves.

If expansions come out and they introduce more tiles then it becomes more viable a project. But is this is all there is. And Id be surprised if they didnt fet out at least 1 expansion. Then its probably less viable for a one-off pressing of hex sleeves that cant be used with likely any other hex tiles out as the ST:FC tiles are elongated hexes.

Excellent info and feedback. I'm talking with the factory now to look at setup costs, minimum order quantities, etc. I should have a final answer on this in a couple of days and I'll let everyone know for sure!

If they make them perfect size hexes, they may well be used for more than just this game, thus expanding the market for them.
