Here's the situation:

- I have an infantry platoon inside a bunker;
- My adversary advances into my bunker hex with one of his platoons (but stays outside the bunker);
- Right after that, with an advance order, I simultaneously advance out of the hex with the platoon that was inside the bunker AND I advance into the hex with another platoon of mine.

Here is the question:

- The moment I advanced out of the hex with my first platoon, does my adversary's platoon gets to go inside the bunker (and gets the melee bonus when fighting my second platoon in the future)?

Here is a follow-up question:

- If the answer is: neither my second platoon nor my adversary's platoon get inside the bunker for the ensuing melee, when do any of them get into the bunker? Do we need to move or advance again to do that?

Thanks for the help!

No. Rule 45.21 states that a unit can only ever enter a bunker "during setup or if activated for an Advance, Assault or Move". Your opponent is doing none of those; you are.

See above.

Thanks, Chad.

Great game, by the way. In some dimensions, it is a little better than CC. Didn't think that was at all possible.

Hello Chad,

please allow me to add another question:

Rule 45.31 states that units inside entrenchments (or bunker & pillboxes, for that matter) may leave them at any time. Can a unit leave such a fortification (and of course stay in the hex) between the announcement of an enemy attack and the actual resolution?

We had this case in scenario 6 where the Russian set up in village hexes inside entrenchments to have a better defense against barrages but wanted to use the higher cover of the buildings once the direct firing began.

Thanks!

Yes, perfectly legal.

Note that if the opponent starts barraging again, those Russian troops can't just duck back into the entrenchments at will....
