Well last night for new-years we cracked out our eastern front expansion and played the red barricades with hubby as the Germans and I running the Russians
Turns 1-3 we had a rather slow start the Germans and soviets had some minor long range firefights that ended with no casualties just retreats.
Turn 4 was when the first major push occurred when my Russian forces pushed forward from the defensive posture i put them in and attacked the German invaders with a vengeance scoring some lucky rolls and totally eliminating three enemy units including one arty, one armor and one infantry force
Turn 5 Hubby pushed with his remaining armor in a armor assault and laid waste to two of my infantry units and my sniper. netting him only 2 medals (thank the stars that snipers don't count for medals)
Turn 6 my commissar hurt my forces by letting us assault our right flank where NO Germans were at nor near for firing range (Stalin Really? i need some guy looking over my shoulder? I mean COME ON I am trying to win a war here)
Turn 7 the Germans did a Recon in force and managed to take out 4 units this time (darn Germans and their armor overrun successes) and in the end of the turn the Germans Not only held majority of some of my factories but they had the medals from the kills. which means, Hubby won.
Overview I was personally not familiar with the Commissar rules and paid the price for it. But this game ran ALOT smoother than past scenarios we have run in the past and this time YAY no infantry close quarters blindness.
