I feel like I just discovered lost treasure. Got this in a trade a year ago and had some time over the holidays this year to look at it. Wow! I don't need anything more fun than this in a dungeon crawler! And I've only played this solo! I can't wait to get 1 or more other gamers going!
Does this game get old after a while? Does it get uninteresting? Too much of the same thing over and over?
I'm getting ready to plop down some serious swag on the 2d edition and all the expansions. Is there something better I'm missing? Something that doesn't take 30 minutes to set up?
Does this support for than 4? Does it scale well? I am very excited about this game. Love it, Love it!

I was really into Dungeoneer when I first found it. I never got to play the original, as it were, but I spent a fair bit of time with Realm of the Ice Witch and Vault of the Fiends. They're fun, but after several plays in a row they got repetitive.
The sets I owned didn't mix as well as one might hope, so that didn't alleviate the repetition problem, either.
I kind of wish I'd hung onto one deck, or maybe someday come across Tomb of the Lich Lord for cheap, because Dungeoneer's certainly a fun thing to break out now and again. Playing multiple times in a setting on frequent occasions took away the luster for me, sadly.

Same here. I thought it was ideal dungeon crawler, fast, simple and cheap. Rules can be rough around the edges, but that's what homeruling is for. After dozen plays or so I've changed my mind: the strategical flow of the game is always the same, and there's not much room for the tactics, so the players find themselves in the same situations repeatedly. Each game is like the previous one, it really gets old fast.
It's a nice game for its money, but it definitely isn't end-all dungeon crawler for me anymore.

We used to play this a bunch years ago. I still own all the sets but haven't played it in years. I think it's a really cool game but I agree, that it can get repetitive if you play it constantly. Something to pull out every once in awhile. I don't think I'd ever mix the sets since they all seem balanced well and it would be a pain to sort them back to their sets.

The others in this thread have already stated exactly what I think; it gets really repetitive after a few plays. Although, the variants give it a bit more freshness
But it's still my no.1 option for a quick solo dungeon crawl; I actually think it is better to play it solo than multiplayer.
This game would probably benefit from more character abilities, that is, more customization when you level up. Going up a level should be more exciting than "ooo, I got a plus 1 in melee!"

The designer has been working on a full RPG version of this for years. I check his website every once in awhile and seems it's still trucking along. Not sure if it will ever get done since he's doing all the illustrations, design, book layouts. Must be a daunting project to finish by yourself.
EDIT- Last update on the RPG was Jun 18, 2011. So looks like it's stalled again.

A Dungeoneer RPG, that's going to be funny.
D.M (Dungeoneer Master): You enter the creepy tomb, suddenly, a Bug-a-bear comes from out of the shadows!! Player: You mean a Bugbear, right? D.M: No, a Bug-a-bear. Player: That's what I said, a Bugbear. D.M: No! I said a Bug-a-....aah, forget it, yes, a Bugbear starts moving towards you, what do you do. Player: I...I attack the Darkness!

I just received this game on the weekend and am enjoying it a lot. I wanted a dungeon crawler without all the set-up and tiles galore...and this little card game does it all. Not only that but I crammed my dice and player pawns in a little plastic card container. Its no bigger than a 150 card box but is packed with goodness.
http://boardgamegeek.com/image/1206371/zombified-ed I want to play a couple of more times and then invest into some more decks. Not bad for a trade. I have played with my wife and it seems pretty well thought out. The rules get kinda loopy after reading some tips and seeing some vids on youtube things run smoother.:p
