The following Thread covers my question:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/421702/cobra-crown-works- The Cobra Crown says you gain 1 additional gold token when your emissaries collect gold. I assumed this applies to both the reward you get when you form an alliance with a neutral province, and to the reward you get when you sacrifice an emissary in an enemy province for gold. My brother, however, thinks it might only be the latter (I guess he considers my interpretation overpowered after I held the Cobra Crown during all three ages of a game, and formed a lot of alliances in the first two ages). Is he correct?

But the answers both from Conster and even Nepitello himself rather confuse me: I agree with your brother. The card says you get to add one in your Intrigue contests, so that is your advantage when you are establishing an alliance. "Collect gold" is a specific term used for the case where you sacrifice an emissary. (Nepitello:You should always listen to your brother!).

I do not understand the wording. Does Cobra Crown reward the sacrifice Emissionary/collect Gold, OR does it reward the establishing Alliance only? So far I understand that NOT BOTH. And my guess is when establishing Alliance only.

Anybody kind enough to confirm/explain?

The emissary can perform 2 type of actions and The Cobra Crown gives a specific benefit to each.

1. Intrigue Contest -> The Cobra Crown allows one additional die to be rolled.
2. Collect Gold (which implies that the emissary is removed) -> The Cobra Crown grants one additional gold.

Dear Tretiak, thx for answer, but did u read the Link I indicated? They talk about -OVERPOWERED- and therefore not both is possible.

What do you think?

Sphere has stated the same thing:

He is referring to the extra die that you get to roll in the Intrigue contest.

I do not understand where the confusion lies.

If you read it again, you'll find that the brother thought it was overpowered when they played incorrectly. He was right. Note that Francisco Nepitollo, who confirmed the correct answer, is one of the game's designers.

Dear BGG-ers, thx for taking note. Of course I read Nepitello's confirmation, but the wording -listen to ur brother- is in a way that I...just...dont...get...it. So easy. Instead of picking on my nose, Argh.I come here to BGG for some help. So is my new understanding correct that the Cobra Cards helps BOTH for intrigue AND quick gold? Have some mercy!

YES
Possessing the Cobra Crown gives both of the benefits during an age:

1. Intrigue Contest -> The Cobra Crown allows one additional die to be rolled.
2. Collect Gold (which implies that the emissary is removed) -> The Cobra Crown grants one additional gold.

EDIT: One thing is for sure. I feel like playing AoC now.
