I haven't played OCS before and am considering trying out the series with Baltic Gap. I have one question though...as stupid as it may seem: Is the OCS series like ASL where I need to get a "module 1" to have all the required counters or is each module independent of each other? I can't seem to find any reference to this. I'm used to ASL where modules feed off each other.
Any help is appreciated.

Each game is independent, with the caveat that if you buy one of the older games, you may want to pick up a copy of the v4.0 rules to use. However, Baltic Gap uses the v4.0 rules, so that won't be a problem.

With the exception of the Case Blue/Guderian's Blitzkrieg II pairing (and even in that one case neither game requires the other) the closest thing to dependencies in the system is the occasional errata counter printed in a later game.

I'm ordering Baltic Gap to give the series a try. I'm sure I'll like it and I've got an itch for some operational level wargaming.

If you are interested in the battle, I recommend Baltic Gap to give the series a try. It's a manageable size, I think, about a medium weight in the series.

I'm getting an itch to explore BG more thoroughly. Too bad we aren't neighbors.

Everything's a bit densely packed in the beginning, which makes the start a bit rough intimidating. It'll spread out a bit after the first turn or two once you get off the map edge. With this in mind, don't let the initial setup scare you off.

Baltic Gap is a great OCS game to start with IMO. Tunisia is an even better starter, but that's out of print.
